Hi there! My name is Monet (or Mo)!

I joined the site 10 years ago but was never active and then had forgotten my account completely until recently. I asked for recommendations of pet sites people enjoyed elsewhere and I was reminded of the existence of Subeta! I thought surely my account had been purged.. yet here it is! So I'm very much a newbie relearning the basics. Every time I log in I learn something new by just boppin' around and searching the help boards for previously asked questions. But I'm having fun doing daily quests and figuring out how to train my pets. I recently turned Favel Darkmatter! I originally wanted him to be Nightmare back in the day but I think I enjoy this artwork much more for him! I'll probably make a new pet for the Nightmare look. :)

I'm excited to have a "new" pet site to play around on! And one where it seems you're allowed so much creative freedom!

Thank you so much for those links!! I learned a few more things while reading through them. The To-Do guide was really helpful! I hadn't heard of the Major Drills quests... all though he wanted me to play with a pet and none of them wanted to play. LOL So I'll try that one again.

I did have 9 of the loyalty boxes!! I'm not sure what I want to use them for yet. I'm thinking maybe I'd turn Taster into a Hydrus.. but I can't figure out how to do it normally or if that would be a "waste" if the color is easy to get?

And thank you about the art compliment! I drew it back when I first started but since I haven't drawn any new Subeta art I decided to keep it there! ...After removing the Photobucket watermark they plastered on all their stuff. -_-;; haha

The pet colors are relatively easy to get. You might hang onto those loyalty boxes for a couple of months, because you might decide you’re really into pets and then you’ll regret not using them for pet slots!

It's been quite a while since I made a Hydrus pet, but if I recall correctly, you can make your pet Hydrus by waiting for Merana to appear on the map (the one you see when you click 'Subeta' on the top nav bar)

She will give you a quest which you have to complete within the 12 hours she appears for (otherwise the quest gets cancelled)

There is a forum group you can join which pings when she appears, but honestly I don't think it's used that frequently so you might be better off spotting her yourself.

If I remember the quest items can be a little pricey depending on your luck, it might be around 100k-200k to complete if you get asked for a rare item (but take this with a grain of salt because it's been a long time for me)

A lot of the other colors are more expensive, like Nightmare, Graveyard, Blacklight, Angelic etc., there are some things like additional pet slots that you can only use the loyalty totems to get (there are ways to purchase extra slots, but the loyalty totems allow you to go above the purchaseable cap)

Good to know.. thank you for your input!! Glad I didn't use them yet. I stashed them into my vault for the time being. I'll probably end up using them for pet slots because I do like a lot of the species and color combo!

Thank you so much for the forum link!! I joined just in case even if it isn't active. Does she just appear on the map itself or on the Omen Islands map page specifically? Is she like a tiny little spec or is she pretty easy to see? I guess I'll start adding that to my list of dailies to check out.

I wish there was a thread to ask silly questions vs making new threads. haha I've been trying to google things to figure out answers or searching the boards but sometimes nothing comes up. Like the Merana quests. I could find info on her, the fact you need to do a quest.. but not what to look for or how to do the quest itself. She appears on the Subeta map! You can't miss her, she appears on the ocean somewhere, she'll be the size of almost a 'land' area so it'll be visible c:

I find the Wizard and Saggitarius quests are te best for making money, as well as the weekend quests, especially if you are short on time. Also, just to be safe, maybe get a week long gold account medal or subscribe for at least a month of gold account and fill another five pet slots choosing more good names pending recolors before using those pet slot boxes. You should not lose those filled pet spots when the gold account expires.

the library quests are also nice for rare quality items and a good amount of money i like saggitarius aswell also when a quest asks for an item and a npc store has it way cheaper compared to an usershop i just buy them all and put them in my store

i now need to get 100 forum posts but in all my time on the site and this is still the hardest thing because it feels so random just to enter the blue building because bees keep apearing telling me to go there but i cant enter because of this :(

Thank you for the pet slot advice!! I wouldn't have known that and probably wouldn't have figured that out!! I have a gold metal in my vault so I'll definitely do that. Do "good" names run out on Subeta? I haven't had to use any numbers yet like I would on say Neopets where every name needs to be unique.

I don't know if I'll ever get into that blue building... lol I read some of the requirements and I was pretty far off I think. Best of luck on your 100 posts!!! It seems harder since the forum section seems less active.

Omg, every variation. "Moe-net" "Mon-net" "Monnit", and then one that I sort of loved but couldn't figure out how the person kept getting it wrong: Monte (like straight up called me Monty most of the year).

Regardless of the situation, though, whether they know how to pronounce it, or don't know and ask where it's from... After, they either ask if I speak French, or some people will just straight up start speaking French (I'm in Canada) at me. And I'm like, "Ahh, no no no.."

Hahahaha I get Mon-net a lot still. Which at this point usually it's faster to just go "..sure" in a random encounter. I get "Money" occasionally too and I'm like excuse me, what? How did you get that from Monet?

I'm in the US so thankfully no one starts speaking French at me. I wouldn't even know how to process that!! LOL

But a good chunk of the time once they find out my name is Monet they go "Oh so you must really love art" Which I mean.. yeah I like art.. but I didn't name myself? It makes me laugh that since it's an artist's name = you must love art. :P

Welcome back! I've never met anyone named Monet before, it's such a cool name. :) My return to Subeta was actually a similar situation to yours, but I came back 5 years ago to a 5 year old account that I had forgotten about making!

I hope that you're having fun so far, and if you need any help, you can drop me a line! I'm happy to give a few pointers if I can. I saw you mentioning the Blue Building requirements, and they were daunting when I first joined, but they're not too bad once you get into the swing of things! For the forum posts, I had an easy enough time because I really enjoy dressing up my avatar, so I would post on the avatar games threads a lot. If you're not as big on avatars, there's also a general forum games section. Then for achievements, the quest ones are probably easiest as you can get them very passively, and then there are a few easy ones in Commerce, and Social. :) Some of the holiday achievements are easy too, so you'll be able to get those without going out of your way much! You can check all the achievements here, if you haven't yet!
