Its not about the items its about they pricing the items low, buying them up and then selling them at bulk for 500% increase later when they feel like it. Im not talking about those who buy the items cheap and then sell them later, its when they artificially lower the price, buy them up and sell thats the issue and (what this thread was about) I thought. Thats all I was saying. Tho I don't think I can say anymore on this subject I think the general concesses of the society clearly is this has been an issue since the beginning and I am glad its being looked into.
To me that first example (pricing below you) is just... how the economy works? If I hand price my items, I place them below other users' prices. Sometimes I even autoprice and then drop my items' prices by 1 sP so that I'll be the first/cheapest option that shows up on shop search. I don't see anything wrong with that; that's how selling works.
And to the second example (hoarding items), I also don't see an issue there. I have tons of items hoarded - partly because subeta encouraged that by having an achievement for it at one point (and then learned it was bad for servers). It's also very helpful for getting recycle beast points, and fragging when I need crystals. I'm not opposed to having a stock limit for selling items (like 20? not like 3), but simply having hundreds of items should not be a problem.
100% this.
[edit] Adding a final thought - in creating some sort of coding solution to address undercutting, will this also impact users who want to discount items for quick sales? In the mage amulet example, if someone prices an amulet at 150k, waits for others to autoprice, then buys up the others at 150k, that's a bad move. But if a different user needs to make some quick sP and opts to price their amulets at 150k (without buying up any others that may or may not autoprice to that), will they not be allowed to?
Similarly, if a user has an expensive item that's selling in SS for 99m for example, but they want to discount theirs or don't think it's worth that much, they should be able to price at whatever they see fit - whether that's 25m or 98m. (think collection items - many are unbuyable or priced at >50m, but only 'worth' the collection price or a little more than that)

And here I am oblivious and had no idea that there was an autopricing abuse issue and that people were avoiding autopricing lol.
And people look down on having "too much" of an item in your shop? A while back I cleared out the pawn shop to help others try to get the achievement and bought over 5,000 items from it. A vast majority of these were duplicates/stacks of the same item. While I fragged most under a certain price I literally have hundreds of the same item in my shop as a result of this. No good deed goes unpunished! :P
Look, I'm going to be as honest with you as I possibly can without sounding rude.
The amount of hate mail you got for doing that should be an indicator that what you are doing is wrong whether it is against the rules or not. Buying the low priced items isn't the problem, you are fixing the price of items then going back and buying items priced at the same as your deflated item. You are profiting off of purposely abusing a system with little limitation; It isn't against the rules because it wasn't a problem. Now it is and the problem is now being fixed in the background because I doubt they have the time or resources to dedicate to giving users like you a slap on the wrist for something you'll probably just go back to doing anyway.
Like you brag about it and pretend you don't know you were doing anything wrong when you are deliberately putting up items to deflate pricing then buy the deflated copies, how is that not a red flag for you?
Relying on the common decency of a random stranger just doesn't cut it anymore, and you are exactly why.
When I buy loyalty items and sell them cheaper it's just because I want a quicker profit...I hope that's not seen as being malicious. ):
This thread is to inform people that we are aware of concerns with the autopricer, and specifically coding to handle pricing swings is being looked into. Please do not report purchases or purchasers of underpriced items in the meantime!
I'm going to lock this thread for now, but will post with more information as we develop it.
