What’s shocking is…it’s been SIX YEARS?! Time disappears in Subeta.

Awesome thank you everyone
Thank you for buying from my shops
What i sell goes towards minions
so thank you very much :)
3 minions to go[/b]
am i misunderstanding this reply, or is it effectively "returning users would be mad if they lost some things if we automated the item transfer, so we will instead make sure they lose everything by deleting the items" ?
i dealt with my legacy shops when the new shops first came out so i'm not an affected party, i'm just confused by this particular position.
Oh good, I guess I did migrate my shop and gallery already lol. Must have done it a while ago since I def don't remember doing it. 😂 Thank so very much to everyone who responded to my concern!! <3 I feel a lot better now :)
I may be completely overlooking it, but is there a way to do this? Is there a way to see the list prior to moving
[edit]
I just went ahead and moved everything. It's been 6 years, if I lose stuff then that's on me.
Thank you for asking for clarification!
If we do an automated process that misses items, some users are going to be upset the process wasn't perfect. It can easily become 'why didn't you let users handle it'? Which...we have, for six years.
Something that shoves things into people's vaults across all legacy shops would also be resources-intensive, AND would take programmer time to put together. The choice between a messy transfer that could lag or break the site for people who haven't checked in for six years, versus a clean break, is one we have to make. I am going to ask about the suggestion from , though.
An automated process also doesn't encourage people to check in with Subeta as we're changing. I'm going to be putting this on Twitter as well, but we WANT people interacting with the site. We want older users to come back. Put the word out! Let your friends who used to play know that they need to do this! We'd love that!

the way this is being handled just leaves a strange taste in the mouth/general bad feeling, but it is what it is i guess ^^;
i'd hope whoever's in charge of newsletters (if we still have those) does one to reach out to anyone who's inactive that doesn't have any active friends, at least?
Happy to hear that things are moving along! ^^
creative limboIt sounds like the transfer of items and closing legacy shops hasn't been a priority of anyone, staff and users included, for many years. It's not that surprising there are users who still haven't dealt with their legacy shops yet. I did it immediately, but I had believed deletion of legacy shops/galleries was imminent back then. I feel bad because we have many people who leave and come back as time/life allows. Returning to find their stores and galleries deleted doesn't sound like it would encourage them to regularly use subeta again. I personally find it to be more of a jerk move. I wish subeta would find that it is worth the time to preserve their items instead of mass deleting them. However, I have lower expectations based on what happened with the donation corner.
thank you for the picture! thats what i needed to see!
I promise it's not a jerk move by anyone, we'd like to be able to keep the information or have the time and resources to completely automate the process. But, much like having to work with what we have for the Donation Center so that it worked for everyone and didn't lag the rest of the site, we have to balance various needs. We understand people had various reasons not to get to this immediately, and we want to give people the chance to transfer things over. There is a reason we're giving three months warning. There is a reason we put this on the front page. But it is six-year-old code that was already retired, and it is not going to get easier to work with over time.

Wish there was some way to see my old shop description. I used to include the usernames of everyone who bought something at my store in it, as a sort of thank you.

I can hardly believe it's been 6 years. Definitely plenty of time for people to have moved to the new system, with this reminder in case anyone forgot. But wow, I feel old.
This exactly. You can see even in all the responses here how confusing it is. Why isn't it just being automated for any remaining shops?
pour one out for all the rare items that are gon get yote from inactive accounts
jokes aside, its needed.
This has been known for six years and yet still there are people who are going to say, "Why wasn't I warned?? I didn't know about this!" lol
...and this is done how?
[edit] In fact, the information at this link seems outdated. There appears to be no way to move items from a legacy shop into a new shop.
I know I'm fine because I took care of this six years ago. Honestly, at some point there has to be some blame on the users. The site made this change and told us we should move our stuff. They gave us over half a decade to do this. Now we're being given a three month deadline which should be more than enough.
It's not my intention to delay retiring the legacy shops/galleries, most of us are ready for it to go. Having a legit deadline is clearly motivating people now. Some users will shrug and say that it is the player's loss for not transitioning their shops before, and I agree they should have taken care of this ages ago. However, 100% I would be devastated if I hadn't changed shops and came back to everything being gone so I feel for them. If it is only mentioned on the front page here, they won't know because the news post quickly gets pushed down by other posts and buried in past news pages. Subeta users could reach out to players who might be affected, but we don't always know of a way to contact users offsite. If Subeta reached out to players via email (not everyone uses social media or discord), updated the facebook page, etc it would cover the bases better.
