I don’t feel one way or the other about snowball season, but it’s absolutely unnecessary that it has to be forced on anyone that finds it traumatic. Full support for making the shield 100% block all snowballs. Seems like that would be the quickest way for staff to fix this and keep the shield useful.

I'd rather see a full opt-out setting that doesn't rely on buying an item you have to remember to equip. Also, for people who do enjoy snowball fights, the chance of deflecting a snowball - or having one deflected back at you - is part of the fun. It'd be a shame if the shield became our only option for blocking snowballs entirely.

However, in the short term I support making the shield 100% effective. For the sake of a quick and easy solution for the upcoming Snowtapult season, please do this. At least until a proper setting can be implemented.

the problem i find with 'please don't snowball me' is it seems to place a target on folk? and if this is triggering folks ptsd thats super not cool. i remember a user being essentially bullied with snowballs because they annoyed/triggered them and they left the site. simply saying "please don't snowball me" opens up a target sometimes because it's just pixels and idk I hate that sentiment and mindset.

i think there should just be a full opt out motion. i dont go for subeta achievements, but i have noticed the targeting of others, which again, if its causing them duress, is really not cool.

it's kind of like the 'please dont gift my tree' scenario.

I think a lot of times it’s not intentional because those of us that are grinding for the achievement are just choosing random. Any jerk who’s targeting hopefully gets banned for harassment, though.

In the meantime, I hope we can direct some people to a thread, like with the egg/tp thread going now, that keeps a list of people who don’t mind being snowballed and we can all target them! But I hope that Subeta staff will make it an option to opt out. That way everyone can have fun. I’ll be reluctant to participate this year, knowing there’s so many people who will be avoiding the site because of it. It’s meant to be fun for those that think it’s fun…not having the option to turn it off sounds like it’s taking the fun out for everyone at best and traumatizing people at worst. Please help us out with this one, Subeta Team!

So: If one does not even see the event(s), they would not even know they got hit with a snowball. Amazing!

Boy I must be really dumb (why yes, youngexplorer you are) because I think the snowballing is fun and I have tried to start snowball fights with other users but nobody seems to want to play. I guess the above topic explains it all. Sorry for being insensitive to others. p.s. You all can pelt me with as many snowballs as you wish.

Thank you for this thread, it wasn't even something I'd considered that some people wouldn't want to be apart of the snowball fight!!! I've been hitting the random button when I do snowballs (which isn't super often, that achievement is daunting lol), but from now on I'll be sure to find someone to target who doesn't mind. <3 Also for the record, I'm snowball friendly! Send em my way if you need a target!

just posting to give support - i absolutely think the item should give 100% immunity. it's silly to force people to interact with snowballs if they don't want to.

I'm here to give my support! You should be able to opt out of things that make the site unsafe or even just not fun for you. I hope this gets implemented in some way.

You know, I hadn't thought of it that way. If I recall, we have an opt in/opt out for survival/zombie stuff. Why not have one for this too? Or anything involving player interaction. Integrate consent into the games core.

where in that does it talk about opting out? am curious since all i see is shop purchases and possibly throwing at NPCs
