Basically the things that doesn't really matter when you pick a family pet. ;) I love all the different colours budgies can have.
Our budgies were on the smaller side, so you are probably right there then. :) We got them from a family friend that had an aviery for breeding budgies as a hobby. It is always good to read up on the type of animal you keep at home. :D I really didn't know too much about cats before I got one, and had to learn. :)

nods there's so many different colours, let alone all the variations for budgies!
Aww that's always neat when you can get them from a family friend :d That's how we got my second budgie (Cheep Cheep) ;) And there's always the things that change over the years for what's recommended and what isn't - all the way through with our budgies, we've fed them seed and given them grit, but now everywhere seems to advise that budgies shouldn't have grit to eat.

yeah robe, bity book, wand etc
why thank you. Thought we'd be a ninja xd. I love your ha. lol i suppose you're right.
it works really well :)
Thanks - I hadn't anticipated Sparky's cw to sit so well on the tree, but I wanted to go with a HA-less look
Well your cats have a lot more scope to make a mess.... although we did have a stain on the wallpaper at the top of the stairs from when a previous budgie got out of the cage and pooped on the wallpaper while he was flying around 😇

thanks it really does sit perfectly. lmao I suppose... lmao nice ;)
I was going to add the Sid CW in as well, but he was kind of sitting in mid air with that tree, so I left him off ;)
Really finding it hard to be in the house on my own this week, as the last time I was here literally on my own, was before we got Sparky. I don't want to feel I'm rushing into a decision, but I think maybe we would be likely to get another budgie sooner than the 6 months it took to get Sparky.

that would look weird lol Im sorry. It does sound tough. Maybe it would be easier to get a new budgie earlier just to help with coping and all
by Paddy ^^ he kind of looks like he's perching on the edge of the waterfall maybe, but it didn't look quite right to me ;)
nods I think it would be sensible to wait until after we get the new fridge freezer delivered (as the cage would be next to the front door, so that'd be a huge thing coming past any bird, let alone a new one), but I don't think I want to wait a really long time before seriously considering another one (we do need to clean the cage again before that, as it hasn't completely come clean yet)

yeah that looks odd lol
You could move the cage for the delivery. Just put the cover over it and ld move him back once the freezer is in place xd
You can see why I left him off then? :P
Normally we'd have the cage in the living room when anything like that was done, but with new (and maybe very young) birds they haven't always been overly keen on being in the living room when they still are getting used to the hall. Sparky was really skittish for the first couple of months (and that was without needing to move the cage for anything!), and Sid really hated the light in the living room (we had to turn the main light off and put the standard lamp on instead!) o.O
We've also got to get the old fridge freezer out a few days after the new one is delivered (no other way of keeping the milk & everything else that's in there already, seeing as the new one has to stand for 4 hours before it can go on, then needs 12 hours to get to temperature), which could be more challenging as I have no idea how we're going to achieve that one!

yeah lol I can
if s/he had a cover over and in the living room would that work?
When's the new one coming? You might need to buy some coolers and fill it with ice. That could help the milk and everything stay cold. Even dry ice if needed.
Whoa, that's a striking outfit! 😮
That could work, although ideally I'd prefer to not have to move 'em twice in a short space of time! I tried looking for local budgie breeders.... and the only one I can find, is the chap we got Sparky from (and I'm not 100% confident with him, as he didn't tell us about Sparky's feather condition, and also I don't really want a green budgie again, so he'd be a non-starter as that's the colouring he specialises in :P). Of course all the other breeders in the next town over, all just have phone numbers listed rather than email addresses, so I can't do any finding out for myself :K
For the new fridge freezer, we're aiming on the last week of the month as that gives us time to figure out how to move the old one out, clean behind it, and remove the dodgy wall tiles that will probably fall off as soon as the old on is moved! The theory is that the old one can be plugged in on the opposite side of the kitchen (albeit just 'floating' in the middle rather than in a proper space for it), so we can keep that on until the new one gets to the right temperature.... but then getting rid of the old one has to be done at least a day after the new one is delivered (Mum's not keen on trying to store things in a different way, as she's not convinced it'd all stay at the right temperature).... but at least we can use up most of what's in the freezer, so it'd only be the fresh stuff in the fridge ;)

Bity book is already her minion. xD Great minds. :)
Blue seems to be the most common colour, even tho I am not sure about that. :)
We always fed ours seeds, and budgie treats from the pet store etc. :) It is the same with cats and dogs, different opinions on what is best for them. Not always easy to know which information to trust. I am very strict with Pusur, he only gets cat food and treats. ;)

I can't get into the forums. It's just loading endlessly even though I've just logged in and New subeta won't even let me log in. Barely got in on the "old" subeta. I had to cheat and go to your recent posts to see what you guys said o.0
Pinkpanther i meant in addition to it as the minion :)
Paddy: why thank you :D lol I didn't have many orange tops but I thought it worked.
It's a good couple weeks though till the end of the month if you get said budgie faster. I can see why you'd be reluctant to go to him again. Can you get your mum to give them a ring? Maybe they've got websites with budgies up for sale?
YOu'd probably have to pay to have it hauled away, unless the new fridge people take the old one--which may not work for the way you all have it planned. Do your gran and grandad have a freezer/fridge things could be stored in for a day?
from what I've seen, green is the 'natural' wild colouring, but there's definitely more blues for sale than greens ;) I spotted some on a pet store's facebook today, and those are white with grey markings :P (although that's not necessarily a colour I'd go for)
Sid and Sparky both had carrot ocassionally, but probably they both should've had more veg ;)
yeah, they've been lagging since the site came back up after the downtime (and training still won't give me another other than an error 504).
nods it'll have to be Mum phoning them - I just hoped I could actually do some finding out myself! I've come across a couple of local(ish) pet shops that sell budgies, but they're further afield than Mum's comfortable with transporting a budgie in a travel box. So it's either a breeder, or the garden centre where we got Sid. No sign of websites other than places like gumtree, and I wouldn't want to ramdonly pick someone from there!
Yeah, a lot of places say they would take the old one, but there's no indication of how you're meant to make it work with the food you currently have in there! They do have a fridge freezer, but Grandad's still not quite got to grips with it, so I wouldn't want to risk adding any of our stuff in the fridge (the freezer section would be ok, as Gran & Grandad don't use that bit!).

it's not even lag. I can't get much of anything. Even safari wont let me log back into my account on my phone. Just getting 504 errors. :/ it's really frustrating.
how far is the drive to the places your mum's nervous about?
I think honestly your best bet would be to have ice packs in some coolers. We've done that for a trip in a hot car down from Atlanta and for the time it took the little freezer to get to temp and everything was fine. Just let the food get low and buy more milk after it's ready to use.
yay it finally loads! (after a ridiculous number of refreshes, plus walking away and letting it sit there for what felt like an eternity)
I was getting 504s on a lot when I logged in earlier, but I figured that was because I'd got there too soon after the site came back up.... but then the errors stayed, so clearly that wasn't the reason!
I think she said 30 minutes was her maximum time in the car with a budgie, given she has to hold the carboard travel box all the way back. The pet shops are more like 40 minutes, but that doesn't account for potential traffic, seeing as they'd have to cross town then do the northern edge of the next town to get there.
I'll see what we can do (and see what kind of space there is that would work for coolers, given that there's not a space in the kitchen where it wouldn't be right next to a heat source of some kind).... although that might end up being a bit more delayed anyway - Gran had her op done today, they got her back home, and now the toe that was operated on is bleeding :K so Mum rang the doctor's surgery to get someone to come and sort it. Also, Gran has to go back to the main hospital (that's a 30 minute motorway drive, whereas our local hospital is more like 10m minutes on local roads) on Monday to have the dressing changed, which we weren't told about before today :K

its been a long laggy day for subeta lol.
but if its only 10 more mintues that doesn't seem like, that much longer to me...
good luck with that. that stinks. Did they get someone out? Wow so soon too?
I think it's more down to Mum's wariness of carrying a box that you don't want to get too hot ;) I wasn't overly confident holding the cardboard travel box with Hammi to get him home, and that was only from the city centre so it was about 10 minutes.... I was a bit worried he'd try eating his way through the box :P
The family friend who drove them to the appointment used to be a doctor, so he was the one who said to ring the doctor's surgery to ask for advice. Apparently as long as it was only minimal bleeding that was ok, but they were told to ring for an ambulance if it bled more at any point. She's also not allowed to stand (she can walk to the loo, but not stand still) so Mum also had to phone the district nursing team (they're the ones who were changing the dressings she'd had on her toe before the op) who were very helpful and delivered a commode so Gran doesn't have to walk to the toilet from her chair in the main room, as each time she put her foot down to the ground, it was bleeding.
With the dressing change on Monday, that was apparently dependent on how the op went (it still would've been helpful for them to say that could've been a possibility before yesterday!) - I guess if what they needed to do wasn't quite so bad, then it could've been a dressing change at the local hospital, or maybe even the district nurse could've come to the flat and done it at home for her.

White with grey markings sounds really cute actually, but I think I would have prefered a more vibrant colour too if I were to get one. :) Not that I will since I have a cat. lol goes to google grey budgies
I am sure they both enjoyed their carrots. ^_^
I am having trouble getting forums to load as well, even if I log into new subeta. o-o Hope it gets fixed soon. o-o
Ahh, I could for sure do that. :)
