Scarecrows... I wonder if the local sci-fi channel would air this old movie.
[Edit] I spoke with the person who needs brake work was very interested in the prospect of bringing her SUV during the three week episode coming soon. We agreed it would be best to wait until they can round up money to buy rotors, and brake pads. I was asked if any charge would be made for the labor, which I answered by informing that student work is not billed, but to also keep in mind we're still learning.
Thanks :) (((hugs)))
Look like the winds brought a cold day. It's the perfect excuse to fire up my wood stove. It'll be a good reason for my brother to stick around a little longer on today's visit. Fortunately it didn't fill the dining room with smoke, though I do stink of it.
I may as well put a teapot and warm up now.
nice...a visit with your brother sounds so good..with a hot drink and fireside...it is always goodthough to smell like wood ..i think!

When I was young we would make popcorn in a pot, over direct flame. Nowadays I use an electric stirring device.
[Edit] I did however bake a pizza in the oven today. The toppings were a tad underdone, but the crust was well enough. I'll need to hone this skill if I want a good pie.
And today I did a job with little more than gratitude in return. Someone needed to replace a flat tire, they didn't have a spare or jacking tools. Once I arrived, I began because I didn't get a response from my text saying I was there. We spent about three hours completing the task; removing the tire, finding a discount tire shop, and installation. Though I saw the replacement had a puncture, and I suggested to go back and address the issue.
The person was very glad to see me make time to help her. I did get a chicken sandwich to eat, and a pledge to be payed by next week. I'm fine with this turnout, these simple jobs make for a shorter feeling day.
Nice work on the tire! A lot of running around, for a great cause.
While V gently weeps?
I have to go to sleep. DST reverted here this week and I have been waking up at 4:00!!! Ugh!
WEDDING IN 10 DAYS GULP!
And the next order of business may be a replacement of all rotors and brake pads, which has to wait until next week that they can pay for the parts. I'm am excited some to see this through.
no weeping..my eyes are remainders from moro...but thank you fr asking my sweet friend!!((((hug))))

HUGeS
I also feel somewhat rewarded when I help others. A challenge has been given to me to help beyond my comfort zone, but then it’s a perpetual thing, no? Either way, nice to hear about you helping others with your vehicular talents.
Stayin' alive....ah ah ah ah...stayin' allllliiiiiive!!!
YO all!!! Hoping everyone is doing well!! I feel the Winter months creeping in here.....YAY!!
Ah good times, the local Mystery channel is airing Leverage. It's so hilarious sometimes, considering the methods used.
I for one am a little impatient with the cold, its cool enough to not be a bother though mine want to bundle up when it does arrive.
you gave me a good laugh..travolta and be gees

I was correct about the friend's car job, I inspected the vehicle's rotors today. Three have major damage, and must be replaced, while the last is by association queued as well. The full list of maintenance includes a tune up, tire replacement, brake fluid flush, and some other tidbits I don't recall atm.
Timing is still good, the brake job is doable next week, while some others can be wedged in on an open lab after Thanksgiving. The client is asking for a quote to pay the work... if I agree, I think we should discuss that afterwards.
Mine also needing to change my car's oil, there's time now. Or I could wait until tomorrow's lab to use the facilities under typical work conditions.
... also today I found an old piece of nostalgia, a talking mother goose. She was a rather troubling memory from my youth, an aunt had one. Every time I spent the night at her house, I sooo wanted to get out of bed and cuddle with her... This certainly brought back the odd feelings that I guess sprouted much sooner than I believed had. I chose not to buy it, I doubt I could find a viable casette and battery pack. I did though snap a shot, if only for the nostalgia.
I want my friggin' arm back!

hehehee....
did you load an old HA, and start from there? That is the only way I have been able to use my feet and legs. lol
That sounds like a great plan - to give the quote after the job is done. How else can you calculate the labor costs? I think a lot of folks think it should be free, but cars aren't easy to fix sometimes, and it takes knowledge, and your time is as valuable as the next persons.
Your story about the talking mother goose made me smile.
My car needs new motor mounts. It is so loud on the inside, and I really hope John can get to it before long. Poor guy.....he has a long list of things to do, that is for sure. I bet he wishes he could clone himself....
Oh, yeah! I forgot about the loading an old one thing. I finally remembered the gloves.

I forgot the other night too, hence the dogs....ROTFL
Mine got an engine mount job coming up too, the old Celica is up for this. My friend and me took a hoist to lift it just enough to realign the mounts. Until he and the owner have time...
I did too, I always stuck to the idea that Mother Goose is the goose, and not the old woman often depicted. There is no good artwork of what I envisioned as a boy.
Mine see you now,
And then last post to boot! Much better than the last time...:#
