So wonderful to see all your loved ones, here are my little sprites:

Neele Neele is the last grandkid from my former breeding lines, I bred Norwegian Forestcats and Holy Birmans. I got her from a breeder who is still breeding with my lines. Neele had 6 sibs and they all looked identical, haha. Her color is silver classic tabby.

Neele represents an older line which shows the NFOs like they really looked, with a much shorter nose and a much less triangular headshape like nowadays. I bred the more modern lines, too, yet Neele is one of the few ones which shows how the breed looked originally, not far from Maine Coon yet a little bit more on the elegant side with a not so heavy body.

Neele is going to be 17 in May! And very healthy, she only has a light hyperthyreoidism which we treat with an ear creme containing the drug. Other than that, she never was ill a day in her life. She is very affectionate when it comes to humans, lovely, always bumping head and wanting to be in physical closeness. When it comes to other cats, she has a mind of her own...

Her best friend was her grandpa Teddy, they loved each other dearly from the first day they met. When he crossed the rainbow bridge some years ago, she never liked another cat like him. She tolerates the Balineses, hates our stray Mickey, alas, she even jumps at the window when she sees him and spits.

Balineses, with their other and very dog-like behavior, are strange things in her opinion and I think she doesn't think they are cats at all and that she is the only cat in the houshold now, LOL. She doesn't fight them yet she wouldn't miss them. There is no prob, though, since some months, she is sound asleep most of the day and is much more calm than before. We love her to pieces, she is such a wonderful spirit, a real cat.

Sometimes, she is more social:

Palila Palila is a bluecream Thai Balinese and 10 years now. She is a half-rescue kitty, her family had a last litter of Balineses yet the government made them let got of most of their cats and dogs because they wanted to have foster kids and there is a limit for pets here.

She grew up with dogs, dachshounds, and she thinks she is a dog, too. She goes by heel with perseverance, comes when called, loves all beings which must be protected.

Palila is very easygoing and therefore, goes along well with Neele which she ignores when Neele is grumpy and includes when Neele is up to it.

She is totally affectionate and loves to sleep cheek by cheek with her humans. Since she has feline asthma, she is not so agile like most Balineses are, more of a calm temperament. Her disease is under control, she gets injections at home around every 2 - 3 months and is a lot better since then.

She is very agreeable with all cats and situations and has a very sweet voice. For playing, Malu is her best friend now, yet since Palila sleeps 22 hours a day, it is mostly playing during the night with him yet he is happy when Palila offers him such entertainment.

Malu Malu is our youngster with 3 years and a lilacpoint Balinese. He was a solo kid and very timid when we met at first yet he totally fell in love with me at the first day home and he is my best companion, a soul mate and a very loyal friend.

Affectionate, playful, vocal, plays all games even when Palila wants to play dog aka goes by heel (then they follwow me around like ducklings haha), fetches toys and is a gentleman all in all.

He was the best friend of our beloved little fairy Lihue and even when he weighted 7500 grams and she only 2500 grams, they played so lovingly, it was a joy to watch them.

Malu follows me around all day, sleeps besides me in the night, he is very affectionate. He even loves our stray Mickey which whom he bumps heads through the window. He loves his pet stroller and likes to be driven around.

Mickey Mickey is our stray cat who visits us since two years. He doesn't want to live inside and some of you certainly read his winter story and our ideas to keep him warm and comfy. He doesn't like to have his pictures taken, even bites then, so I only have some not so good ones:

Angel Kitties Some kitties crossed the rainbow bridge in the last years and we miss them dearly.

KEA My Spain rescue, cross between Siamese and Persian, a real soul mate with a silky fur and soooooo lovely and affectionate. Best friend of Tana and a real model when it came to pics, she liked to pose.

... in the fog with Tana:

TANASU: A red and white Norwegian Forestcat, a soft giant and in love with all female cats. Not very cuddly at first yet after some years, he was very affectionate, too.

LIHUE: A lilacpont rescue Balinese out of a kitten mill, a soft and sweet fairy, very playful, played all day along with Malu. She was a little bit more shy yet trusted us completely, which was really astonishing after her experiences with humans before. We hope to find her reincarnation this year so she'll come back to us perhaps. We are working with an animal communicator to reach this goal.

FRIDA: My first cat ever, a black and white Norwegian Forestcat. Sweet and lovely yet also still a real cat with her own mind. She was the founder of my breeding, together with Teddy. She'll always be in my heart.

TEDDY:

LINUS:

INDIANA JONES:

MANDY:

NOELANI:

YAMIE:

I am going to continue this, have to find more pics first.

Your cats are all so gorgeous! Malu in particular has such a distinctive look...his face reminds me of an owl. He could be one of these familiars from FR lol

They get along fantastically now but it did take some time and effort. When I first brought Moon home as a tiny kitten, Zelda thought she was just a bite-sized snack I had brought for her. I had to keep them apart except for supervised interactions until Moon was bigger and Zelda decided she wasn't food. Now they are great friends and keep each other company while I'm at work.

Every cat I've ever met loves to lay on keyboards and get between you and your phone. They might not give a crap what you're doing until you try to type or play a game or something and suddenly they're right there in the middle of it demanding your undivided attention lol

Thanks for the invite! They're not siblings, though they sure do fight like they are 😅

Cat is a rescue. She was a skinny little thing when we brought her home. She picked us and then as soon as we got her home decided she only liked my husband 😬

Kitten was part of a litter my cousins cat had. I went for a visit and left with her 😅

I am glad they got along well finally! With cats it's sometimes the same even when you pair two of them, some need time and when one is more tiny, it can take some weeks.

Malu IS a wise old, LOL. He respects every creature. Just this evening, he found a bug at the floor, watching it. I told him this would be a house bug living with us and that it is not food and he listened and only watched the bug crawling, then hopped into my lap for a cuddle.

Lihue was so skinny also, only skin and bones, 900 grams with 6 months (after she already stayed for a week in the pet hospital, she had even less before). I am glad they found a good home with you. ^-^ Is Kitten more "your" cat, then?

Kitten was supposed to be mine but she spends most of her day asleep on the kids beds and her nights fighting with Cat over my husbands knee.

I might get myself a dog 😉

Your cat's names sound so lovely, how are they pronounced?

Or get a third cat, haha! ^-^

Oh, thank you! Neele is a Scandinavian name, most NFO breeders name their babies like this. Let me think, how to pronounce it in English ... It sounds the same in Scandinavian and German. The first short German 'e' sound is articulated in much the same manner as the 'e' vowel in the English words 'get' and 'set'. The second long German ee vowel has no corresponding long vowel in English. To pronounce it, you must ensure that your tongue remains tense and in the same high position in your mouth throughout articulation, it is a looonger e. :-) It is the pet form of the name Cornelia which is known in English, too, I think? Like, Nelly. However, we call her Mausi mostly which means little mouse and darling on the one side and on the other, it is a tribe's name which means "she who picks flowers" which she has constantly done when young, hence her nick name. :-)

Most of my cats have, when I could choose them, Hawaiian names. Palila means "a gift from the heart which founds its right place". It is pronounced Pa like in grandpa - lea- la (like the la in Noelani below).

Malu was named Newton by his breeder yet I talked to her and she renamed him to my wish. Malu means "bringer of peace" in Hawaiian. He is very peaceful yet I wanted to name him like this because he put my mind to peace after we lost Tanasu (after fighting lymphoma with one year of chemotherapy). The name is pronounced like in master and Lou.

Lihue means "the band which unites all of them" in Hawaiian. It is pronounced like Le in Leroy - who - e like in set. We often called her only Li yet also Lihue becaus it has such a nice ring to it.

Tanasu was named like this by his breeder. It means "strong" in a Spanish dialect. We called him Tana for short which is pronounced Ta - na with prolonging the letter a like a in calm.

Indiana Jones should be clear, haha. Teddy, also. Frida is a Scandinavian name yet I think it is common in English, too? And you have a Mandy and a Linus also.

Yamie is pronounced like the name Jamie.

And last not least, our little Noelani, which means "Mist of Heaven" in Hawaiian. It is pronounced No (like in the English word no) - e like in get - la like love - ni like knee.

It seems that with time, most pets can learn to live together peacefully. I used to have a friend who kept a total zoo, she had cats and dogs (everything from full-size poodles to bulldogs to chihuahuas), all sorts of birds (chickens, ducks, doves, parakeets), ferrets, mice, guinea pigs, you name it. And she had them all coexisting under one roof somehow. I wouldn't exactly advise keeping such a menagerie but she did make it work. I actually got Moon from her when one of her cats had kittens.

He does indeed seem wise! I want to know more about this house bug...what kind was it and did you actually keep it? lol

I'm glad you posted those pronunciations because I was saying a lot of them wrong in my head (e.g. I figured Malu was pronounced like "mah-lu", didn't expect the "short a" sound). I apparently don't know anything about Hawaiian names...they are pretty though!

The menagerie sounds lovely, I would very much like to have one!

All our cats grew up with dogs and they like them so that wouldn't be a problem. Mice, too. We have a lot in the garden and had once a house rat coming for food, too. The cats love them. You would think they would stalk them like prey and eat them, but no. Neele had a summer some years ago when she wanted a baby so badly, she brought all sort of mice in and put them into a plush nest (they didn't exactly like it and ran throught the house, screaming....). We had a mouse hunting set aka a cardbox and a big spoon and mittens to catch them and we've got our hands full, haha. In all the years, we had only one casuality so far. Neele brought one in again, an adult this time. She laid it down cautiously in the middle of a cat circle to show her new kid, proudly. Indy, Teddy and Linus were sitting there, looking down on the mouse, and the poor one got a heart attack and fainted and its heart stopped. Believe me, we tried to reanimate it yet to no success, alas. Neele was very sad.

Then, we had this cute story with the branchling. The cats played in the garden and the branchling hopped around the pond. He had a scare when they raced around and fell into the pond, screaming. We were in the house at that time, the pond is around 20 meters afar. Lihue run up to us, talking loud and excited, and urged us to follow her like a dog. We went down (our garden is situated on a hillside) and fished the little one out of the pond. It was already cold and its wing seemed hurt because of all the effort and struggle. We took it up to the terrace, the cats were really anxious, and laid it down on the table there - and all the little fleas were leaving it like the knew it would die in an instant! Better for it, without them, haha. My husband treated it with Reiki and we drenched some homeopathic remedies into it and slowly, it calmed down and we dried it cautiously with an infrared heat lamp. It fell asleep then and we phoned my dad who had bred canaries for decades back then and has a profound knowledge of birds. He told us to not look for the nest and put the branchling back in because there would be a chance the parents wouldn't accept it like this. He told us to put it in a save place like a hedge and watch if the parents search for it. And indeed, the next morning, when the other birdies where still sleeping, its parents searched the garden, loudly peeping, and the little one answered. They started to feed it and after some days, it was more brave and roamded the ground again! Happy ending!

Concerning the house bug - or was it a beetle, I am not sure of the English difference

  • ah, I see, it was a black carpet beetle!

Still crawling slowly through our living room, I think, haha.

Yes, Hawaiian is a wonderful language! So soft. The alphabet has only 13 letters. No harsh ones. Five vowels: a e i o u (each with a long pronunciation and a short one) and eight consonants: he ke la mu nu pi we, including a glottal stop called ʻokina. Actually, many words are pronounced exactly like the German letters so it is easy to learn for me yet I know only basics so far.
