i also keep a log of who i gifted and when, in an effort to avoid duplicates and spread the love as much as possible, so be sure that the item you're requesting is the one you want - like i said, it's totally fine to update your request. i pretty much just poke thru all the pages of the thread each month and pick things that look neat, or stuff for people whose leashed pet/HA/username i enjoy, or randomly if nothing else jumps out at me.
