Please yes! One of my very first subeta friends passed away a long time ago and it still breaks my heart when I see her name at the top of my friends list :c
I also think that this is a really sweet way to show that Subeta in general is a stand out site. People form really close bonds here and when a user dies, the user base does feel it acutely. When Hope died a lot of people knew it was coming and it was still utterly devastating. I didn't really know Georgie on a personal level. but it was like cold water got dumped on me when I read she had passed.
This user base is kind and respectful and I think it's a wonderful idea for us to be able to not only pay respects to people we've lost, but also to show new or shy users that this site is so welcoming.
I 100% support this, loving the idea of the memorial garden/statue in Centropolis. All of these members of Subeta that have passed deserve something sweet like this. I also would love to leave flowers/candles ect. for them.

I really like this idea 100% support.
Its a lovely idea , Subeta is so supportive ,,xxxx

The idea of linking it to the memorial in Subeta somewhere would be so amazing, maybe even a new garden.
I fully support this idea.

I support this idea, especially think it would be nice to link it to the memorial statue or have a garden.

Letting their names/accounts retire is enough. I am not supportive of the idea there should be some official shine devoted to actual dead users. Just make your own memorial and let it be.
Support, but I'd like the survival memorial art to be revamped in something that's less Pandemic themed.
While I do think this is a lovely gesture, I just wonder if these people would have wanted to be listed. There is no way for them to "opt out" and some would not wish to be kept on a list. And then you have the ones that are gone but no one knew them well enough to mark their account. I think memorializing their account is enough.

Miss you Rini, Pineapples, Faerie, Nightwic, Leeonna, Marreshaann, and other friends.
Full support of this!!
I like the idea, but brought up very valid points. For every user that is well known and could be put on that list, there's also likely to be users that weren't as well known on site who'll fall through the cracks. Additionally, brought up the point of consent as well, and I consider that a valid point to be considered too. A deceased user can't consent to whether or not they would of wanted to be on that list and as Destiny pointed out, not all of them may of wanted to be memorialized that way.
With those points in mind, I think the current system where the user profile of the passed on user is memorialized is enough.
The internet has done this strange thing of making an unintentional permanent record of everyone's lives. This is something totally new to humanity. Before this, someone would have to create a physical item to have a record of their life: journals, letters, photos, film and tapes. But now we all have multiple online accounts, where we talk to hundreds of different people all with a different idea of who we are, and our information is floating around on the airwaves so we don't even have to think about it.
This all begs the question: what do we do with the data left behind, when the people who made those accounts probably never even considered it? Facebook has a great option where you can either choose to hand over account administration to a chosen person, or just have your account deleted if your death is reported to the website. I've opted for deletion, and I wish every site had that option. Another path could be making a digital will, of sorts: writing down all your login info, with instructions for what to do with the accounts after death, and giving it to a trusted person or storing it with your documents.
If I could choose to do so, I'd rather not have my Subeta account memorialized, as my relationship to my death is much different than most people's and I feel no need to have a "legacy." And I would really hate if, after I die, my username was listed alongside a bunch of other random users I never even knew. What I'd really want would be for my items, pets, and currencies to be distributed, and the account itself (& all posts and comments) deleted.
It has been really interesting to ponder this these last few days.
Honestly, if I was to die tomorrow, I'd actually like to be honored on this site via the memorial.
This site has been a good part of my adult years, and taught me more about life than school or even the workplace ever did. I trust staff to be responsible with that; they've been nothing but tasteful via tribute items.
I see this more like something like a tribute item - with our own celebrities and users, than a e-gravestone.
I think this is a brilliant idea. Maybe a simple list? I mean we've got their userpages frozen, but compiling somewhere together would be really nice. We've lost many over the years.

Thank you anon ;_; x10 March 4/21/21 (RIP Storm-buddy the leopard gecko- you lived a great 16.5 years.)
this is personally why i'm iffy on the idea. i, for one, would absolutely not feel comfortable with being put on a memorial page of any type (or leaving behind any legacy at all when i die, but that's besides the point)
i think the sentiment behind the idea is great though but maybe something like a user-run forum thread would be a better kind of memorial than something officially made by the site?
