I think it would be cool if, in the item's description, perhaps above where the actual item description is (between Description and Rarity, maybe?), it would show us what the item does. Example would be like:

I figure this way, we would know before we buy and not potentially waste sP on an item that isn't what we thought it was! What do you guys think?
: Full support on this! :D
It can be helpful to know the items uses because an items 'appearance' can't show WHAT it is, you know. Like some items that looks like BOOKS, are also FOOD, CLOTHING, WEAPONS etc.
Another thing that i see is that some food items DONT LOOK LIKE FOOD, so yeah, it is reeeaally easy to miss those, and thats why seeing item's uses can be helpful. XD
I can't even begin to imagine how many clicks this would save me... Yes please!

Things that add extra lines to the information in the item hover box have been repeatedly rejected by staff, because there isn't room for it.
You can find these things out via the Item Database Building, and the fansite SubetaLodge.
i think this is a great idea. and if there’d be any issue with the implementation i feel (though admittedly can’t speak for the logistics) that the idea could easily be tweaked to work, such as not elongating the item hover boxes or whatever other issue may present itself: (the item type in brackets at the end of the description instead of its own designated line, or this information appearing within the item information on the item directory page.)
however i don’t really see why this would be an issue, as some item description boxes are already way longer/shorter than others, with varying description sizes. subetalodge and other fan sites arent always 100% accurate (came across a non-boutique set listed as boutique recently) so it would be helpful and just make sense to have that information directly in the item description, plus would be such a time saver.
I would love this, especially since New Subeta is in the works and I know item hovers are something they've been working on. While I greatly appreciate Subetalodge (and use it daily), it's a bit inconvenient having to rely on a secondary website to look up every single item.. ever ^^"
Subeta's own item directory lists the uses so people don't have to go to subetalodge if they don't want to. I would be behind this suggestion either with small icons or words in the hover. Whatever is the most convenient for implementation.
I love this and your example isn't too bad on the eyes. It would be very useful for items I think are books....that arnt
Support - there are enough multi-use items on-site, and I'd love to be able to see very quickly what those different uses are.
Support.
And if it can't be done, can we at least add "Multi-use" at the end of the description, like they do with tranformable items? So at least we know to look it up. Or some other indicator?

- Not to be “that guy” but Subetalodge is infinitely more convenient to use than the Item Directory 😅
If we’re worried about space, seeing if something is a multi-use item at a glance seems way more useful to me than seeing either the Official or Recent Price (cause if I’m selling it, I’m just gonna check shop search or the auto pricer, and on how many occasions is it going to be useful knowledge to know what a common item sells for in a normal shop? If it comes from a special shop, sure, but regular restocking shops?)
Once I set up my dev (lol), I'll play around with this. If I can manage to add uses without making the boxes too cumbersome... ;)
(I like the idea of just doing like [food, wearable] at the end of the desc or something. I'LL PLAY AROUND.)
I agree with this. I have suggested multiple times that only one or the other is needed and that they could be replaced. This never goes well.
When I restock books, I use both of those prices often to make sure I'm getting the best deal. I don't want to buy books from the Book Nook that are cheaper in user shops; conversely, I don't want to spend a lot of money on books in user shops when I could get them cheaper at the NPC store. I don't always go to the search shop feature to look at the books, and to do so would often be multiple extra steps that the prices in the hover box allow me to skip.
It also helps for other items, especially ones that are expensive in user shops. If I see a giant discrepancy between user shop prices and the official price (like, for instance, Quest Shop items), then I know to look to see if it's somewhere available for purchase instead of being out of my reach. It encourages me that the item is obtainable.
Furthermore, Subetalodge isn't always accurate to what the price of things are in user shops. The hover box isn't always accurate either, but it seems to be refreshed way more often than Subetalodge. Even the autopricer lags behind it sometimes (well, they kinda take turns from what I've seen).
So...tl;dr - the prices are useful and should stay.
But I love suggestion of incorporating uses into the hover box, and I especially like 's idea of them being little icons. Words can sometimes be too much. (More words, less reading.) But icons stand out more, you can quickly see if there are multiples, and if they are distinct colors (and shapes for people who are colorblind) it wouldn't be too long before we knew which ones were which.
This could be useful! For those crazy all-use items this might be rather cumbersome (hello universal remote), but I think the icons would really shine in that case.
I want all my items to look like a clothing tag with mysterious icons!
Losing official and current price info on item tool tips would be an enormous loss of quality of life for me. Anything from basic sorting garbage from gold to working on my pets would be negatively impacted, turning daily play into a huge pain in the ass. Opening up 50 tabs to check prices or shoveling trash no one will ever buy into a shop because you're assuming everyone can just autorpice makes things worse for the sake of saving two lines of text. If you're worried about space, maybe don't have 500 character descriptions.
(Rereading this, it sounds absurdly aggressive. Prices are useful information to have at a glance, and whinging about two lines taking up too much space while ignoring giant bricks of flavor text is aggravating. And I like the flavor bricks!)
This would be SO helpful. Trying to organize my Wishlist items I had to guess on so many cuz they could be books, food, both, whatever. I know I added them for a reason but when I haven't looked in my Unsorted list in a while I forget haha.
Stellar idea! Hope it can be worked out.
