Hello everyone! I definitely want you guys to have an open discussion about this, but I did want to stop in and give a few comments here and there :)
It is SO much more than just lowering prices. If that was all we wanted to do, we could have done that ages ago. But we want a fun, new, engaging, and welcoming system. We want it to be better for all users, and that definitely takes time!
Finally, it's important to remember that COVID has affected all of us, including staff! I work in one of the few industries that has actually surged during COVID rather than suffered from it (here is actually a [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/10/upshot/pets-health-boom-coronavirus.html]great NYT article[/link] about it). I'm working nearly 14 hours on some days, and still come home, shower, and log onto Subeta to work with on this as much as we can. Trust me, we would NOT be putting nearly this much time or effort into something we were just planning to string you along with. Trust me, we are tired and worn out and suffering from anxiety and depression and COVID misery like so many other people are right now. But my priority (and lately, Bug's as well!) is still to get a new, amazing system out. Please try to have more faith in us - it really goes a long way for our morale :)
I completely understand this, but this is also what I meant by remembering that all of these things are also affecting the people working on this site. I will not go into anyone's personal lives (including my own beyond what I said above), but these things are affecting all of us right now. However, we are still continuing to work, day after day. I think it's really important to keep this in mind. The world is upside down right now, and it would be perfectly reasonable if members of staff said "You know, I can't work on this right now. I'm too busy/stressed/anxious/sad/worried/angry/frightened due to what's going on in the world." But despite feeling ALL of those things (and more), we are still pushing through all of it, for all of you! This is why it's hurtful to be told we are just stringing you along.
Because there was no point in just changing prices for an extremely outdated system. Nothing with the way CWs work overall has been updated in 9 years. It needed to happen, and it's better to roll out the changes all at once.
We aren't feeling "rushed" to do anything. We're working this hard and this diligently because we want to. We have a whole huge list of things we want to keep implementing as time goes on, so we aren't forcing ourselves to do every little thing right now before launching. But we needed a new, more efficient system to coincide with price changes (because lowering prices with an outdated system really isn't sustainable in the longterm).
Doing things this way has allowed us to concentrate on the entire system, since I'm more "free" to do so without having hundreds of submissions to go through. And people may be most excited about the price changes, but I've seen quite a bit of excitement about other things we're creating as well. I think the majority of users have been happy to wait as long as they see we're making progress.
Thank you for your kind reply! I know it's definitely not what you intended, and like I said, I appreciate the topic and being able to see different ideas and peoples' thoughts!
