Hey, guys. I am pretty stressed out right now. My boss said she’d be cutting hours or laying people off so I have tomorrow off now. Super stressful. I don’t know what I am going to do!

That sounds like me. I may leave one story to start another when my mind gets going. I do try to finish all the stories I can write. What's the plot of your horror sort-of-ghost story and a spy escape-and-romance story?

I'm buying a little at a time so I don't go over budget this year so no I have barely begun to shop yet lol

The spy one is almost done - just needs a bit of rewriting. The plot is that a spy was captured along with his servant (who is also actually a spy for a different organization from the same country) by an enemy country, and is being tortured (unsuccessfully) to reveal information. But the servant spy is in love with him and can't deal with seeing him tortured so is going to make a deal with their enemy for help 'escaping' and get them out of there.

The ghost one is also almost done, but I will probably do some final edits and maybe add a scene. The viewpoint character thought he imagined the ghost as a child, and as he got older he saw her less and less often, until she stopped showing up at all. He kind of misses her and talking to her about his life, so he starts writing her letters. Then she starts showing up in his dreams which then turn into nightmares and things from the dreams start to become real.

I can imagine! And I hope it's the last damn week of it!! Yes! I was waiting to park in a front row prime spot, ion the end of a row and a lady was standing on the passenger side with her door open (the side I wanted to park on) and she kept dropping newspaper pages and slowly picky them up. She was old and big so I told myself to have patience. So after about 2-3 minutes of sitting there, obviously waiting for her to move, I decided to pull in anyway. There was about a 6-12 inches to her door and several feet from her. I was trying to run an errand before picking Liz up from work so I couldn't sit there forever. I rolled down my window and said, "I'm sorry I have to pick up my child in a few minutes. So then she says to me "and you could be more careful". Truthfully, I wasn't even near her but was just trying to not be an a-hole. But then I was an a-hole, as this was only the most recent event, and I told her to go f herself. She yelled Merry christmas to you too. Bawhahahaha!! As I walked in front of her car I pointed at my rear and mouthed bite me. I know it was wrong of me and normally I'm overly polite as I am a people person and I was raised with manners but sometimes enough is enough. Figured you would get a laugh out of the story. :-D

You mentioned self-imposed pressure which is what many of us perfectionists do. But I know the pride you must feel when something gets the ok!! I've been reading a book that I originally read about 6 years ago. I didn't realize I had previously read it until I was sucked in (again) by it. I love when I hit the jackpot with a good book!!! I'm sure it's not your genre but in case you wondered it's: And the Mountains Echoed Novel by Khaled Hosseini

That book looks cute - the little children! (in the picture I saw at the link I found about it) 😆 but I probably won't read it because I didn't like Kite Runner at all, and it's the same author.

I'm definitely always struggling with the twin problems of perfectionism on the one hand, and doing the absolute minimum I can get away with on the other. The best way is to do a thorough and careful job, but not sweat being 100% sure it's flawless. And that's a narrow middle of the road to steer!

I knew it wasn't your type of book. I love love loved the Kite Runner! I think there's a narrow middle of the road for most things in life. LOL!

yeah. Realistic bad things happening to children (especially sexualized things) are pretty much the opposite of what I ever want to read about for fun. Everyone has different taste and that's good, because if everyone liked the same exact thing, probably we'd have only one book and have to just keep re-reading it 😆 which would get boring!
