I adopted some pets out a few times but it took me years to come to that point in some cases, LMAO. I have a TH and I have plenty of characters not on Subeta, but I'm slow drawing references/coming up with designs so putting them on another site without an image is weird for me. I like the pet aspect for both the pet itself (I really like coming up with a suitable color/species) and for the fact that that character has an image of some sort. Something is there to represent them and it makes me feel like I don't need to rush to give them a design. maybe that's a bad thing but listen,
I have hardly ever downsized mostly because I have a sappy sentimental attachment to most of my pets or I'd like to try and work something out with them 145048 times before finally throwing in the towel. But the times I have, I didn't regret it, because I knew I'd tried everything possible with that pet beforehand, so there was very little chance I'd ever think back on them and realize 'Oh no! I could've done this and now I can't.' Especially the case with pets I've adopted from other people because then I feel bad I wasn't able to keep my promise to turn them into something great.
It also helps that I don't care about ID or birthday when it comes to pets. If they have a low ID or birthday that means something to me, sweet, but I don't need it.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences!
It's interesting to read how you all approach working with your pets. I think I'm somewhat a minority not only because of the fact that I prefer fewer pets over more, but also that my characters for my pets are exclusively created for Subeta and for that specific pet. They are all animals (no humans or humanoid creatures, though some can shape shift) and I don't go too much into depth on their profiles.
Reading all of your replys made me realize that the thing I'm worried about most is that a pet might end up in a home where they aren't taken care of. I don't think I'd regret not having any of those I've considered adopting out, but it would make me sad to see them worse off than they are with me right now. So I guess I'll just keep them. Maybe I'll want to work on them a couple of years from, maybe not. At least I can use their TCs to store items that I like.
Your posts really helped me get some clarity, so thank you for that. And of course, if you feel like it, continue discussing :D
Even though my goal is 30 slots, the more pets I have, the bigger my writer's block. My pets stop becoming unique. Nothing a good name change and color won't fix the first 15 pets or so. But I like expanding on Treasure Chests, and there's no way I'm giving 40-100 slots for all of them. I can't see myself wanting more than 18-20 permanent pets even though I have 24 right now. I'd like to adopt out 5 right now. (Four of them are 2007-2010 pets).
