Personality: Born from the forbidden relationship of a goddess and a mortal, Cynem and his sister were cursed by the greater god from the very day they were born, a terrible illness cursed his mind making him fall asleep on a deep slumber, he can talk to his sister on her dreams and sometimes does astral projection. Cynem cant do much but observe the unfolding of their vengeance by his decaying sister's hands.

Setting: Arctic Frost Personality: She is a hard worker, but likes to relax and play too. She is quite intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and a mostly calm demeanor that belies the mischievous glint in her crystal blue eyes.

Likes/Dislikes: She loves to write and has published a number of books. Several of these she wrote vivid descriptions with dates and places to accompany each of her husband's amazing photos. A number of others were also non-fiction about living in the wild places, esp. Arctic Frost, but were anything but dry and monotone reading. She captured the essence and conveyed her joy and humor of her surroundings in such a way that the reader was transported and saw through her words. Likewise in the few novels she had written, her characters were so compelling and the details of the stories were such that the reader fell in and forgot they were reading. She loves the comfortable log home, too nice and large to be called a cabin, that she and Jokull built as well. Someday she hoped for children, but for now she was content and happy. Like her husband, she disliked being in the city but didn't mind the occasional forays into it, esp to see her husband's photos in gallery openings, of which she provided the prose. Sometimes she also enjoyed the few interviews of her own and the booksignings that she allowed. But always the mountains called her home.

Pet Name: Shifted

Setting: He lives in the mountainous region of Shengui Guo, but can be found anywhere.

Personality: Intensely curious about many things; focused; yet can't be still or in one place for very long. Highly intelligent, and has a great sense of humor. He is enthusiastic, charming, compelling. Quite easy to talk to, because he is curious, and he loves to tell of his travels and the spirits he studies.

Likes/Dislikes: He loves different types of tea, hot and cold. Because of his ability to shift into and from the planes of existence, he knows the spirits who are part of them. He studies them, is friends with many, and is fascinated by every aspect of them as well as the planes they live in. As a correlation, he is also fascinated with time, which is different in different dimensions. He explores the Rift on occasion, too. He loves to write of his and Rezzo's adventures in the other planes as well as the Prime Material, which is their own. The non-fiction he writes actually reads like the best fiction. He could not be still long enough to actually teach classes, but is a popular speaker and visiting professor.

Other characters to include: His minion Rezzo the . The maguyuk is not always corporeal; sometimes it is made of light itself. Its howl is easily mistaken for the sound of wind. Because of his nature, Rezzo is able to accompany Shifted everywhere he goes, and together they love exploring the dimensions.

Anything else?: It has taken a long time for Shifted to be able to control his shifting and destination to and from other planes, including his own, and within a dimension. Which meant he could teleport. He was always disappearing at random times to different locations, often in the middle of a conversation with someone. The people he knew started calling him Shifted, because that's what they said when he went. "He shifted again!"

He also has lived a very long life and assumes he is almost immortal, because time effects his body differently in other dimensions, as well as in the Rift.

One of his quotes after going through the Rift: "Not going too deep into the quantum physics, but the ever changing fluidity of time differentials, and the unique fluctuating spatial coordinates, pertaining to and also generated inside the Rift itself is affected as well by the singularities it spawns, or each nexus it creates from the chaos, as it forms portals to other worlds. Time can dilate or telescope, depending, and often fluctuates between the two. The observed rate at which time passes for an object depends on the object's velocity relative to the observer and also on the strength of the gravitational fields which can slow the passage of time.…” He paused as he saw the glazed eyes of half his audience. But was delighted with the other half, that showed intense curiosity.

“Okay, okay… Sorry… I get carried away by the beauty and complexity of the Rift. I could study it for the rest of my possibly immortal life and still find the dynamic and infinite calculations involved fascinating. Anyway - in general when I spend three days here only a few hours to one day has passed in most of the other dimensions I have visited, using the Rift or not. Some are opposite, of course. But I also must make sure not to create a paradox and arrive back home before I left. But that isn't usually a problem. Somehow I always know instinctively the flow of time and never miss being well into the safety zone."
