Thanks for the report! Looking into this now.

Good speculation, but we use the user ID and pet ID for everything except places that require a username/pet name lookup (like the pet profile URLs or sCode)

All right, this is fixed now! Thanks for the report, and don't worry about the extra renames you got this time. <3

If you're curious, it was an issue with date/time logic in PHP :'( The date/time stuff in PHP is pretty unintuitive, for some reason what I thought was giving me the beginning of the month was actually giving me... noon for some reason? So any pets renamed in the first 12 hours of August were allowed to be renamed again.

As far as I can tell, that name change happened but legitimately didn't count towards your limit for that pet. We have a log of the name change, and that it was legitimately not to be counted towards your limit, but unfortunately the logs don't tell us why exactly. Either the pet came with a free name change, or there was a name change credit on your account. I've added more detailed logs to that page so that if this happens again, we'll have a better answer. :)

My pleasure <3

And yeah it is weird... and it's unfortunate we didn't have more detailed logs about that. But now, if something weird like that happens again, we'll have detailed logs and be able to get a better idea. I'll close this up now since the main issue this report was about is fixed - if it does let you rename a pet twice again, please feel free to create a new bug report and we'll be able to take a clearer look next time :)
