I just got my power back a little while ago from the storm. It was so weird how quick it came in and out and how bad it got. We were without power for over 24 hours, which I consider myself lucky because they were saying a week or so for it to be restored! I had barely any cell service either, which usually doesn't happen when the power goes out. I am just glad to have it back!

- Your experience almost exactly mirrors mine! I came home from work last night and found that the lights were back on :) I was very pleasantly surprised, because I was also told that it could take a week. Cell service is still very spotty, though.

Most of the surrounding area isn't so lucky and the big power company that services them is getting investigated for underpreparing. (My area is covered by a different power company.)

thank you both! Yes, the storms can definitely be scary. My backyard is heavily wooded and we had a lot of big branches come down from the rain and wind. Luckily no trees fell down fully. Our landscaper was able to get out the next day to clean out the yard and get the big branches off the fence.

I'm glad your power is back! I know a big chunk of people in NJ still don't have power. I think still close to 500,000. They have gotten a good chunk back on the grid since it was 1.4 million people with lost power to begin with, but I'm sure plenty of people are hoping to have power much sooner than a week from now. Hope your cell service improves!

That's really good that no branches or trees fell. I'd be terrified if that happened near me.

Thank you so much! I am actually leaving to road trip out to Denver tomorrow. I am really excited! It'll be me, my best friend and my dog driving from Massachusetts to Colorado. My friend is helping me move all my stuff in and staying for the week before returning home to Massachusetts. I'll do my best to check into Subeta along the way but if you don't hear from me, I should be settled into my new apartment in Colorado by Wednesday.

It was okay.. made me really stressed and started getting depressed. It was to much for me lol. There were good moments though. We went to Niagara falls which was our first family trip with the kids and people were social distancing (aside a few not wearing masks). So it wasn't all bad and then me and hubby got our first night alone after almost 4 years lol even though it was only for like 3 hours because we did not plan well it was still nice. I slept the entire night without waking up xD. (We have an infant so that's nearly impossible to do).
