We've overhauled the subscription system on Subeta, with a new focus on providing monthly plans that aren't centered around getting cash shop credits, but other benefits around the site. We've created four new tiers that progressively get better, with more bonuses around the site.
We're also introducing three perks as part of these plans.
The monthly bonus item will be an item that gets sent out monthly to subscribers (you'll get an event!) or when you first subscribe to a new plan. They're similar in style to the monthly bonus items that you could get for purchasing during a bonus weekend, but will now be delivered monthly to subscribed users.
There has been a lot of confusion around bonus weekends, they are gone for good. Instead, we're hoping to transition to cheaper items in the cash shop and more value for your dollar in the monthly subscriptions. In addition, we're going to start having sales that are not regular, monthly, predictable sales.
The Buddy GA lets you gift a GA to someone from their profile. This will give them 30 days of gold account, which adds on top of their existing time if they already have a GA. You can read more about the buddy GA here.
Finally, we're trying a new prize with the Custom Wearable Voucher. This voucher can be used for any item in the Custom Wearable Shops for 700CSC or under. That makes the $15/m plan a big discount if you're a custom wearable fan!
The vouchers are only redeemable in the custom wearable shops, and we hope will create more energy from purchasing from them!
Note: Both the Buddy Gold Account and Custom Wearable Voucher are account bound, and cannot be traded. You can purchase a CW with your voucher, and then sell it, though!

Existing Subscriptions: We had an existing subscription service set up called subscribe & save that we are shutting down. If you had a subscription you can cancel it with no cost to yourself, or keep it running! We won't be accepting any more subscriptions in this system.
Boring business details
Moving to more monthly recurring revenue gives us a much greater ability to forecast our income, and make better choices. Right now Subeta income happens either during sales or during the one week a month we'd reduce the price of CSC, which tells us a lot! We hope that these plans provide a little more "bang for buck".
The lowest plan is just $3 a month, and it's a tier that really means supporting Subeta. It takes a lot of money to keep the site running, the illustrators drawing and the UAs answering tickets, and even just $3 a month means keeping the lights on both as a stream of revenue and also a show of support.
These subscriptions are a first step to a more major cash shop overhaul, which will include reduced prices on custom wearables (both submitting and purchasing) and reducing the price of individual items or making them part of monthly packages. We're also working to create more "cosmetic" type items on the site (avatar borders, user icons, things like that - we aren't reinventing the wheel!) that we can make prizes for completing things on the site.

I know it's been a rough year(s) on Subeta, but we've invested in our infrastructure over the last few months and are in a stable place to start making site changes. You'll notice that this subscription page is entirely on new.subeta.net, which has given us much better flexibility to change these plans or how they work in the future (writing code planning for changes, who would have thought!). Just over the last week we've pushed over 30 bug fixes to the wardrobe code, and have whittled down the list of major problems down to less than 5 which we hope to get to this week.
An example of how building this in the new framework helped us to build new things faster:
I know you have a lot of places to spend your money, and I know you've probably got less of it right now because of things happening around the world, but my hope is that these are the first steps we can make to building more of Subeta together. The business changes I talked about include bringing in more user voices to things like the custom wearable market (we're putting together a council who will make the major decisions on rules, pricing, etc) and other parts of the site.

Unfortunately we can't design the system for every user on the site, and went with what would be the most simple and usable for users.
I'll talk to the UAs about a ticket process for refunding GA time, but you'd just get a medal for 7 months of GA. We aren't doing any other types of refunds, this is a new system with GA time as a perk.

The buddy GA can only be applied to the account of another Subeta user. You'll be getting a monthly GA from the subscription though!

Great question, and things we can make generally more clear!
Benefits go into effect immediately (including the special item!). Your plan would renew on the same date every month (so the 12th -- this is clear on the page once you're subscribed!) and if you canceled on say the 18th, you'd have the benefits of your plan until the 12th of the following month.

We are launching this as a month-to-month looking to change and add benefits until we're really happy with the package provided. Because of that, we won't be offering any way to get more than one month at a time until we've settled on that package.
Once we've done that, I can totally see "pay for 3 months upfront" being an option (and probably one that has a little discount!)

The buddy GAs accumulate, so you can collect them through the year & give them all out around christmas, or just give them to a random user on the forums that you see being helpful! They aren't really included in the "price" of the subscriptions, and are more just a way to hopefully add a social component, so if people don't use them we aren't considering it a loss and will just add more perks to the subscriptions to make up for it!

I'll talk to the team about how we can handle people who were year subscribers with a significant amount of time left on their gold accounts. The best that we're going to be able to do, most likely, is convert it to CSC, but we cannot provide refunds or free months of the new subscription service (it just doesn't/can't work like that)
