This isn't intentional behavior, however, we also did not do anything to change how the website works. It is up to the browser, device and operating system whether touchscreen input is conveyed to the website as a click or something else.

I think a long-press should work to select something (and make the hover come up) without clicking it, can you guys try that?

Unfortunately this really is not due to any changes on our end, so I'm at a loss what I can do to help. It seems to be somewhat Apple-specific?

We'll definitely keep this in mind as we work on the new site design and try to avoid the problem there.
