Earlier today the site went down due to our caching layer having a failure. Our hosting provider notified us that the primary node on our cache cluster was performing poorly and they were going to automatically replace it.
That kicked off a series of events that lead to the site having half loading pages, or not loading at all. We've added a second node as a "standby" node in the case of this happening in the future (it receives no traffic unless it needs to be used as a failover) which should prevent this type of problem in the future.
