If you want to know more about the possibilities with CSS, it might be worth looking at the tutorial at W3 Schools. Maybe skip through the tutorial a bit so you know what's possible to be changed with CSS, and then when you actually want to change something, go back to the tutorial to see how it's done. That way you're not spending a week trying to comprehend everything or learning it by heart. You just need to know about the possibilities.

The hard part is to get it to work with the subeta language. It's mostly CSS, but they changed some things because they don't want you to insert malicious code. I'm not sure what the differences are, but if you're able to find some existing custom CSS for subeta, you might be able to edit that to suit your needs.
