I wouldn&;t remove any items from anyone tbh.</p>
<p>It is entirely likely that someone who owns one or two private CWs that were not sold to them personally did come by them honestly in a usershop, donation centre, pawnshop, etc. If someone turns up with 50 of these items then there&;s cause for concern.
There's a window for that kind of thing to be taken advantage of, but I personally feel it's worth that risk as long as people who actually lost valuable items are able to get ethem returned
Gonna have to agree as well. Because staff would have to rely on user reports in order to identify falsely restored items, I think it would cause more trouble than anything else. As far as I’m aware, none of my CWs were lost because of this glitch, but I do have several that I acquired from the pawnshop that ended up being “private” releases. In a scenario where maybe I had lost some of them, what would happen if the releaser was unaware that someone they sold/gave a private CW to had gotten rid of it? They could possibly see me wearing it, think I had been falsely given the item bc of this glitch, and then make a report about it. They could have no ill intention and have every right to belief that they were correct, even though (in this example) they wouldn’t be. Again, too many variables.

I'm pretty sure they're only planning to remove things when it's clear the person never owned it to begin with. While most people aren't going to try to take advantage of this error, there are definitely some who will. I've already amended my post to note that 4 of the cws I thought I was missing are most likely my mistake since it's clear that I'm the only one missing them. There's also evidence from further than 4 months back that I did own the CW that I have had restored that quite a lot of folks were missing. I'd wager they're looking at the backup and also at the number of reports of something missing vs something that's clearly still in user's wardrobes before restoration to determine whether or not they end up needing to remove something they've restored in error.
Imo the only items that shouldn't be restored are those who have checks and balances confirmed. Ie: CW that has 30 item hard limit and all 30 are accounted for.
Otherwise the idea of returning an item then later taking it back is uhh. Interesting.
Thank you for updating us. I just want to highlight a few bits for fast finding in case folks land on a new page and don't want to go back to look for updates.
Edit: Got spooked by some wording in previous posts. I am really hoping I don't actually have to say this but please DO NOT allow users to report other users as wearing CW they're not supposed to own. That is a surefire way to bring on the witch hunts.
Aside from the obvious issues pertaining to this, I was wondering in the past with the main root cause of issues previously years ago of initiating daily server backlogs. I do remember in the past the user base had the option to download a complete backlog of their account information in a file. For an issue like this moment in time.
I don't know if this is still put in place, but I think if it is no longer viable for users to do at this moment in time, maybe brining this option back. Would save staff a lot of guess work on what someone had at a particular moment in time.

Sure wish site still had the option where we could download our acct info and save it to HD. If they still had it, all this turmoil, could possibly not be happening. :s Of course, they had to remove that option, cause if I remember correctly... something about being too taxing on the servers. -_-
Yeah, I wasn't here for that as I only recently came back about a little over a year ago or so, but I do know people could download the log endlessly at points. Possibly starting again with an 24 hour to at least a week's time per log request wouldn't be too taxing on the server and still have buffer room for situations like this in the future. Ones that could result from a myriad of issues that are out of staff's control.

Re: The issue of removing private/limited Custom Wearables. Thank you for your feedback. You've brought up some very valid points and concerns. Right now, we are also leaning towards not deleting false positives, even if we have clear evidence that it was a false positive. We are definitely not going to delete based on a CW's "private" status alone.
Our main concern is with certain personal or extremely sentimental CWs. We don't know of any of these that have been affected, but reports are still coming in, so we want to be prepared if this happens.
We do typically stay out of CW "status", but in this case we are open to hearing from the community what you'd like our involvement to look like, since this particular issue is a direct result of our error.
You should give users back the option to download backups of our own account data. That would've helped at a moment like this. We appreciate your suggestion, but the solution is not to make users responsible for their own backups. This is not the users' burden to bear; this is our responsibility and we were the ones who messed up.
We aren't excusing what happened, because, again: there was no excuse for being unaware that our backups had stopped working. This was unacceptable, and we are doing everything we can to fix the damage and make sure users don't have to pay the price for our mistake.
We have now made sure our backup service is working as intended AND being regularly monitored, and make sure staff get an immediate notification if it stops working. We put this into action on the 26th. So right now, our backups are back up and being monitored round the clock so we will know immediately if they fail again.

Thanks for your hard work and understanding! This is a really horrible situation for users and staff alike, but thank you so much for your effort and communication with us about your staff discussions and thought processes <3
I'm so glad to have a page to see the restored items. That really like makes it feel like this is being solved. Like you can know something is being fixed but seeing it actively being fixed really eases the mind.
Please note that many users have and did presume a lot of things about 's ongoing work and the outcome of this situation that had yet to be resolved. That many users have been discourteous and threatening over the last few days because they are legitimately upset and worried about things that were not the case and/or that had not yet come to pass is >precisely< to what I've been referring. And that they're fueled by incidents outside of this situation, using that as justification not to be upset, but justification to be rude, is and was my issue and point. That's not a presumption. That was a fact revealed within this topic.
Quoting my PREVIOUS post within this topic for further clarification, as I hope it clarifies I'm not exactly NOT upset and that I recognize years of issues:
You can be upset, and as you've kinda demonstrated, you can still be sorta nice and constructive about voicing that upset. Meanwhile, others have not been kind, and that's the issue I take now as always. I can also apologize on behalf of those other users who have been incredibly, personally nasty without apology as that is indeed my place if I so choose. If you weren't one of them, and this doesn't apply to you, then there is no need for you to explain yourself neither to me nor anyone else. Now that I've clarified a bit, I'd like to hope you wouldn't defend such actions, but I don't like to presume.
You could keep lending me your perspectives but I'm full of my own right now; as for the appreciation for the actions of those people, I'm afraid you cannot lend that to me. Thank you for the compliment on my HA, and uh, for the record, I recognize you just fine.
I havent had a chance to check what was missing but Im glad to see that some items have already be restore. I know it will take a while, but its a start. Hopefully all my sentimental items are still there. I need to finish some work project so I can check them. Thank you for the update!
I just remembered; i store my things in the lodge, maybe you can compare there what is missing in cw is just an idea

As far as I know, none of my limited/private items went missing for anyone. I only speak for myself personally should this issue come up for my items. I am willing to provide whatever records I have of who has what if I am contacted by staff.
Thank you for your hard work in restoring items for us. I apologize for some of the harsher criticisms I have said earlier. I understand this is not easy for all of us. I am very glad to see a solution being worked on that will benefit all of us.
Is there a confirmed missing item list to check up with? I'm pretty sure I have all my CWs and such, but the restocking and holiday items are just SO MANY to remember...

so just to be certain, I won't have had to submit any reports of missing items and I'll have everything restored directly to my wardrobe? I literally have no idea what I might have lost because my wardrobe is so large, and I added quite a lot of things to my wardrobe in the last couple of months. mostly pandemic shop items. but again, I didn't keep track of what I did and didn't add recently.
Is it possible to have a quick link to the report form in the front page? Or make it somehow more easily accessible?
Even with Subeta making its own back-ups now, more reliably, I for one would have better peace of mind if we could download our account data like we did in the past. After this, I started a Subetalodge account to keep track of everything I can (collection, wardrobe, books pet has read etc). But it can't keep track of everything (vault, shop etc). Plus, it'll be a real bear to keep it up-to-date. I either have to manually add items on Subetalodge individually, like when I read a new book to a pet. Or I have to regularly use Subetalodge's mass add feature and enter source code and stuff, which is very time consuming. I would just have more peace of mind if I could download my account from Subeta itself like before.
Its not widely known but you can mass add pages like your shop and vault to a custom list on Subetalodge. I did this in the past, and can confirm this still works at the moment. You just need to past the source code of that particular page and it will log the data in for you.
In case the account personal data method doesn't come back, you can keep track of this item via this method.

I literally haven't got a clue what I'm missing. I added tons to my wardrobe over the Christmas season, what with all the lumi gifts that happened, and the black friday sale. What do we do now?? is there a list of items that have gone missing??
