For the last two days, they've asked for really expensive items and only giving 9k-10k for completing them. Has something happened for them to ask for high prices items? The items they ask range from 70k-90k, total. I love doing quests but not if I'm not making anything off of them.
I just did my set of 15 and came out about even. I didn't have any 70-90k items, but I think my highest was 50k and I only did that to test. Seems about normal for me but there may be some inflated items in the mix if they were recycle best items recently.

Okay then. Like, they asked for two pumpkins and they were 50k each. I'll have to skip their quests for a while. Thanks for looking!
I will do a few more days just to make sure but yeah those pumpkins can get expensive.

I guess you guys weren't aware, but this has been a thing for a few years now. People target holiday items with fairly low availability, buy up cheap ones or just put what's in their vault for sale and price at Quentin's cap- 50k. The Alegarten shop is/was a favorite target for this because of the low cost items, the unlimited stock, and the fact that it's only open a couple weeks a year. This is also pretty frequent with the Zombie Den and the Masq shops since people may not have tokens, be willing to root through all the pages to find the items asked for, or know to use Subetalodge to find the item's year. Sometimes people also do this with Go Outside and Mediocontra items.
When it started it was one guy with Alegarten and Masquerade items. Since then, it's grown to be a fairly common practice. Now it's not unusual to spend 65k sP (a 50k holiday item, plus a 15ish-k restocking item) for Quentin's quests and get 15-20k sP and a 3k item as a reward. I usually do not break even on them. Because nothing was ever said, I assumed this is intended user behavior where we were supposed to eat the cost of the gamble for an amulet.
edit- I forgot to mention gaming Quentin like this can cause them to ask for items above the 50k cap.
I'm going to ask my question there since it's on topic : did Quentin always reward us with such items? I felt like their rewards were always some mix of items of various rarities but today I noticed that I've only received Game Prize items... and an amulet!
Since the Graveyard Shop was closed, Quentin has been giving out game prize rarity items. They’re still mostly old Graveyard Shop items though, and Quentin’s quests are now the only source for them. Amulets mostly come from their quests too.
..i think. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
Yeah, I believe is correct. Although Quentin does sometimes give out restocking items when they are hosting the weekend quests and give out extra items because of that.
