Matched with an Infection Specialist after Survival ended

I signed up for a random virus a few days ago (on the evening of the 5th iirc) and didn't think anything of it when survival ended and I hadn't met a match (I wasn't asking for bites, just seeing what fate would bring).
However, this afternoon I got the event that I have been infected, and I'm not sure if it was supposed to happen since Survival ended (though I signed up before it ended). Not sure if it should have gone through or not.

I do know for sure that once you're infected (i.e. stage 1) your infection continues to progress even after the event. I've done this pretty much every year. But I wasn't certain if you only had to sign up (like you did), because I always made sure I got stage 1 by being bitten before the end of the event.

Q: Will my virus progress after the event has ended? A: If you signed up or drank a vial before the end of the event, your virus will progress and you’ll still be able to claim your skins.

Thank you! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a bug since I wasn't actually infected when Survival ended.
