You can cancel the trades manually and the items will go back to your inventory.
There are some problems with things that happen at midnight (for example, dailies not resetting) and the issue with trades not cancelling is related to this. We are working on this.

Sorry, but that probably will happen due to how it works. Anything older than 2 weeks will get cancelled; there's really no other way we can do it.
If it would bother you a lot, you can avoid it by cancelling your older trades by yourself, if you know you have many older than 2 weeks. I know that is a hassle, and we do apologize for this inconvenience, but that would avoid the issue of all of them getting dumped in your inventory at once when the problem is fixed.

Yes, trades not cancelling after two weeks is an issue again. I'm working on a fix for this that will fix it for good. I'm also trying to think of a way to fix this that won't cause older trades to be dumped into a user's inventory all at once :)

As stated at the Trading Center, trades are supposed to get automatically cancelled once they reach 2 weeks old. This hasn't been working for a few months now. We've just completed a fix for this issue, however a few notes:
Last night was the first night we deployed the fix. There was a glitch where some people would receive 2 phantom items in addition to the items in the cancelled trade. You don't need to take any action if this happened to you. As of now, the phantom items have been deleted, and the code that caused this issue has been 100% fixed, so it won't happen again.
Since there is a backlog of older trades, we wanted to avoid flooding anyone's inventory with items by suddenly having all of their older trades cancelled at once. Thus, we're cancelling only 1 trade lot per user per night until it has worked through the backlog. This way, you won't log on one day to suddenly find 100 new items in your inventory from 10 older trades being cancelled all at once.
Everything older than 2 weeks will eventually be cancelled automatically. If you don't want to wait for your older trades to get automatically cancelled, you can go to to this page to check on your older trade lots and cancel them yourself. That page shows you the date you created each trade so you can easily find which ones are over 2 weeks old.

Yeah, hm... Some people still have a lot of trades (like.. dozens) older than the expiration threshold, and I wonder if it's because people keep creating new trades when the old ones expire, so even with the queue system it will never reach a point where it's fully "caught up". There might not be a good way to deal with this other than just letting them all expire at once. I didn't want to flood people's inventories with items but I think, at this point, it can't be helped D:
All trades over 2 weeks old will expire at midnight today. If you have a lot of older trades, please consider cancelling them yourself today, or clearing your inventory by midnight to receive the items, if it might be more convenient. Thank you.
