Hey all - There was a glitch the past few days causing events to not send correctly. This affected ALL kinds of sidebar events. Some would go through and some would get stuck because of the glitch. is pretty spot on about what happened; the missing ones are all going out now that the glitch got fixed. We apologize for the flood of late events some of you may be seeing today! We know now what caused them to get stuck in the queue and will be able to prevent it from happening again in the future.

Pinging since this affected everyone.

Good question, thanks for asking. This incident would have affected events since about January 6th.

The training events have been broken long before that, and as far as we can tell, they are just failing to get sent in the first place. So instead of the events getting stuck, it's more that the training events never get made in the first place. It is really weird, and we are still doing our best to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for letting me know. This is intentional and I'll try to explain it now. A few weeks ago, we changed the way events work so that they will strain the website less and have a lower failure-to-deliver rate. The change may cause events to take a few minutes to send, especially when the website itself is under higher strain.

A few weeks ago, we changed the way events work so that they will strain the website less and have a lower failure-to-deliver rate. This change may cause sidebar events/alerts to take a few minutes to send sometimes, especially when the website itself is under higher strain.

So, for example, if you are pinging forum groups, please allow a few minutes for the ping to reach all members of the group. :)

Again, delays will happen sometimes. This was a necessary tradeoff we had to make to ensure events would not fail. We know that, ideally, all events would succeed and be instantaneous, but unfortunately this is not possible within our resources and constraints at this time.

There is a separate issue with some specific events not working; these are listed here: Missing Event Notification/Alerts (So, if your event is on that list, then we know it is not working. Otherwise, it is probably just taking a little longer to show up.)
