Hello style-philes! We're very happy to announce an event to celebrate Style-File's 10th anniversary, Style-File's Decade of Style!
This event is being sponsored in part by CHIC, in part by Style-File, and in part by me, and we hope you have fun with the series of challenges we've concocted! It total, there will be five challenges that take place over the course of the event, one at a time, and one challenge that runs the duration of the entire event!
Before we can get into the festivities, here are the ground rules for each challenge:
One entry per theme per person. If you wish to change your entry, remove the tag before the end date of the contest in question. If we notice two avatars from one person, the earlier entry in the tag is the one that will be considered. Please use the appropriate tag on style-file for your entries - if it's not tagged, it's going to be very hard for the judges to judge it (and also feel free to post the avatar here). Please enter within the posted time period for the challenge. We are giving you 4-5 days per challenge, and part of the challenge here is to create something in a short period of time. Please do not enter previously uploaded HAs. Please follow entry-specific rules. If you have any questions, feel free to ping - if I don't respond in thread after ~24 hrs, shoot me an smail.
If you're worried as you've run out of uploads for the event, don't fret: We're increasing the style upload limit by 7 for all users during this event.
For each timed challenge, there will be four prizes for Judge's Choice, Most Adored, Most Discussed, and Random.
Judge's choice will be decided upon by a panel of judges: , , , and , and will receive a 500 CSC Gift Card. Most Adored will be the most-adored avatar for that theme, with ties broken at the discretion of the Judges, and will receive a CW of their choice from the Style-File Vault. Most Discussed will be the avatar in each theme with the most comments from different users, and will receive five Subeautique Invitiations. Random will be a randomly picked avatar that did not win any of the 3 previous awards, and will receive a 250 CSC Gift Card. For the special challenges, each winner will receive a 500 credit gift card.
Additionally, Judge's Choice, Most Adored, and Double Trouble winners will receive SF Premium.

Some items have stood the test of time where others have fallen by the wayside. Proudly feature two of these iconic items in an avatar, and make what's old new again: Ankle Wraps (Any color), Wrapped Corsets (Any color), Cropped Vests (Any color), Pet Color Miniskirts (Any color), Big-Buckle Belts (Any color), Side-Button Boots (Any color), Funky Corset (Any color) or Roseband (Any color). Proudly feature means that 50% of the item should be visible. Please use the tag TenYearsIconic for this entry on Style-File!
This contest will run from 12:00 AM Subeta Time on Monday, 1/27/2020 to 11:59:59 PM Subeta Time on Friday, 1/31/2020.
Event-long challenge
This special challenge will last the duration of the event: Double Trouble! You and a partner will have to make a pair of avatars that work with one another around a central theme: Zodiac, Mythology, or Elements. As this contest is going to run the duration of the event, it's crucial you tag it TenYearsTwins on Style-File so that we can find it!
This contest will end at 11:59:59 PM Subeta Time on Friday, 1/31/2020.

Ten years ago, the Subetan fashion scene was quite different. We're going perform some sartorial time traveling - take an avatar from the first few months of Style-File's history (October 2009 - January 2010) and bring it a decade forward.
If you don't have any avatars from that time period, christopher, Maja, Isabella, midnightshadow, Shannwich, landriona, and Luscious would be honored if you used theirs! The 10th Anniversary is known as the Tin Anniversary, because Flexibility and Durability make relationships work. Show us how flexible and durable you can be by making an avatar without common aspects of avatar making we take for granted: CWs, Hair Coupons, or other Unlockable Hair Styles.

While Tin is a romantic gift, sometimes it doesn't hurt to bust out the big jewels... after all, there's nothing that becomes a statement piece quite like precious gems. Create an avatar that plainly features one of the Cash Shop Bonus Weekend reward items. Please use the tag TenYearsHardware for this entry on Style-File, and be sure that the piece in question is at least 50% uncovered!

It wasn't just items that changed avatar making heavily, but also changes to the layering system. Make an avatar following the constraints of the early wardrobe - no layering behind the body, 2 items per layer, and default facial expressions need to be worked with. New Outfit Not Found I have way greater appreciation for the avatars people made using the clothes available in the 2009-2010 wardrobe now. That was some very clever deceptive layering they had going on. I'm not sure I like everything about this, but it's okay for now. I might do another one someday for my amusement, but I don't have time right now.

i spent a long time going through the options and finally decided on reinterpreting 's gettin' wiggy.

it was definitely a challenge to come up with something modern and original while maintaining certain key elements, but i'm quite pleased with what i came up with! it was also fun to look back on the early years of subeta fashion; even with limited options and layer restrictions (remember those? wack) people got creative. i still remember some of the... quirky outfits i made during my early forays into the wardrobe. those never ended up on style-file of course, since i didn't know it existed until a couple years later. but it's so weird to think how many years we've been doing this silly thing, and how much has changed.
wow. 10 years. I haven't played on style-file for months and months now. but than, I haven't been online much either.
I think I'll do this. heh. my avatars were SO BAD that far back! lol but than, I guess a lot of people have 'changed style/grown up' :D
