This is a (bit late, sorry) reminder that December is almost over. Tomorrow (Dec. 31) is the final day of Luminaire! If you've visited Melody's Cottage every day during the month, you'll get the achievement for that when you visit tomorrow. Be sure to open your Lumi tree gifts before the month ends as well, if you haven't done so yet. Although any uncollected gifts should remain under the trees to be collected next year for anyone who forgets or doesn't have time to be online.

Note that the Luminaire Forum should remain open until around January 5, so you have a bit of extra time to wrap up any contests or gifting threads.

With the end of the month also comes the usual change in donation presents and collections. Be sure to get any of the December ones you need, as they'll be removed from the Cash Shop sometime on Saturday (Jan. 2).

I hope these reminders have been helpful for everyone who still follows them, because I still enjoy doing them (and helping myself remember stuff too lol). I'll see you all in the new (and hopefully better) year! :)

I went digging through the news archive, and from what I could find the Luminaire gifts did used to be given out automatically on the 25th for a while, before they switched to the current method of players having to manually visit the presents link to receive their gifts. (there used to even be a whole different system for giving out gifts called stocking stuffing, the trees weren't introduced until 2011)

It was hard to figure out exactly when they stopped being automatic, but I think it was around 2014 or 2015 (this year had a big fiasco where some players received duplicates of gifts from the old stocking system and from other previous years). Either way, players have had to manually open their gifts by visiting the page for the past several years at least, and it even says on the page "If you have unopened gifts from previous years, you should receive them now."

That was the most information I could find from the old news posts. :)
