I'm pretty sure I'm not in the top 1000, because I wasn't in the top 1000 before it broke, but I do have more sp now than I did then so its theoretically possible.

If I may ask, how do you find/join a pool like that?

The achievement is currently broken. A ticket was submitted asking if it could be given manually if a pool was formed, and they were told no. So basically there are no active pools right now.

If I didn't have the achievement I would:

1. start building savings - it takes a long time to gather enough sP to even think of starting/joining a pool. There are a few ways to set aside savings and "forget about them." I can give further advice on this if you want.
2. Keep an eye on the news and the achievement forums to see if they ever do end up fixing this achievement. Join the group Site update. This group will often ping with news that isn't quite worthy enough to show up on the main news page.
3. Build friendships/acquaintances with others who are achievement hunting. This achievement has been broken for a long time, so there will be a building movement of people ready to start a pool pretty much as soon as they fix the achievement (if ever). Start reading and posting in achievement support + chat 3. They may also have a ping group - find out.

1. Yep, the vault is an obvious, and simple solution. Upsides: easy and simple :). Downside: too easy to justify taking out sP to spend on stuff. Also, if you want to do Sarah quests (lots of reasons to do Sarah quests), if you have sP in the vault it counts against the 1.5 M you have to keep under to do those quests. It doesn't keep your funds "out of sight, out of mind" all that well.

2. Create 2 selling shops - one to cash out and use for everyday expenses. The second would be your "saving account" where you don't cash it out Upsides: just let the sP build (if you don't have the Shop Till Saver achievement yet, this is a double bonus). You can set the options in the saving shop not to let you know when there are sales so you are less tempted to cash it out. Sarah doesn't look at shop tills, so you can still do her quests. You can also put pricier things in here and not get anxious if they don't sell quickly - you have all the time in the world to be patient. Downsides: Its all or nothing - if you really need extra sP for something you MUST have, you can't just take out a bit of the funds, you have to remove it all and start over.

3. Buying vouchers. Upsides AND downsides: LOL there is nothing in this category that is strictly good or bad! There is a daily limit to buying vouchers, and while technically this is a downside, the upside to it is getting into a daily habit - the max is 50K per day. Its not much, so you'll likely be able to afford it every day (which means saving a million in 20 days). Its slow, but I would use this in combination with other methods of saving. Cashing in a lot of vouchers is seriously a nuisance, which means you'll be less tempted to spend the sP, but it is available if you really need it and you'll likely not be tempted to cash in extra, just the bit you actually need in the moment. Its also very definitely "out of sight, out of mind." These also don't interfere with Sarah quests.

4. In a similar vein to vouchers are Slots Coins. They are worth 15K each. They are slightly easier to cash in than vouchers (I go to the coin machine, cash in one, then hold down the reload key until they are all done). If you have the patience, and enjoy it, playing slots is a great way to earn them. Slots itself provides you with some bonus dividends, the slots items are sometimes asked for by the recycle beast, so if you're collecting coins, anything else can be tossed at the beast. Also, if you don't care about recycle beast, the random slots stuff can be fragged! However if you don't enjoy playing slots - you can simply buy the coins. They generally sell for just under 15K - so basically it would be like buying vouchers you can cash in later. These also don't count for Sarah quests.

Note: I play slots...a lot! Need to keep up my high score :). I currently have 6451 slots coins, worth a total of 96,765,000 - and I'm not even trying to save!

5. Make your own personal group. Having a group gives you access to a group bank. Upside - this is like having a second vault, a little harder to get to, so a little less tempting to "raid." Sarah also doesn't count group bank funds. Downside - if you create a group that you are actually using (for friends, for achievement support, for a hobby group, etc), you need to be aware that the bank is secure ONLY if you don't promote anyone to admin. The group owner AND all admins have access to the bank. You are only allowed to create a limited number of groups (I can't currently remember how many that is), so if for some reason you start creating groups for other purposes, this will limit you. Finally, staff has gone back and forth about group banks being "legal" or not as a place to store funds and still do sarah quests. They have currently decided that its legal, but who knows if they end up changing their minds again.

Final bit, you can combine several of these methods, all working together - that's an especially good idea because its easier to forget about. If your sP is divided into two vaults, a shop, vouchers, and slots coins, you won't actually be aware of how much sP you have until you sit down and count it all up. Its way less tempting to spend sP if you don't know you have it. But it also keeps the sP flowing for you so you can still spend some to buy stuff you want, to help you earn other achievements - its nearly painless.

Its also possible that they will never fix that achievement, so if they ever finally kill it off/retire it, you can go on a buying spree :D.

ohmygoodness, that's so helpful, I didn't even know you could do any of that haha. I also didn't know I could do Sarah quests, I thought I had too much money. Now, if I currently have way too much money for Sarah's quests, where can I put it? I feel like my best bet there is probably making my own group then?

yes, that's the best way for quickly getting rid of a ton of sP onhand.
