Quick Post-Maintenance Updates!

I'm sure you've noticed a LOT of things were wonky after we came up from our extended downtime. In this post, I want to go over some of these issues, and let you know where we're at, what's been fixed, what we're working on.

Bathhouse Streak As promised, we made sure everyone kept their streak during the downtime! If your streak wasn't maintained, please file a ticket and we'll restore your streak as soon as we can.

Avatar images missing base features

• This was fixed, but you may still be seeing incorrect images due to your browser cache. You can fix this by clearing your browser cache or hard-refreshing your avatar image.
• We're aware that there may still be problems with the Hair Salon, and will be looking into this as soon as we can.

Forums Not Loading

• This was a tricky one, but they're loading now!!

Database issues

• When the website was still throwing "Application error" and was extremely laggy the past day, it was because of specific queries causing our database to get strained and backed up. We've identified and refactored several bits of code that were straining the database, so the website is more stable and less laggy now.
• When the website wasn't stable, some data may have gotten corrupted, which we will work to resolve to the best of our ability as soon as we can.

Blank pages

• Some pages stopped working, and showed a blank white page. We have a tool that logs every instance of this kind of error, and I have been working through these one at a time. Most notably, this should no longer happen when clicking on an item from your inventory.
• The wardrobe is also fixed, and isn't a blank white page anymore yay!

Apostrophes Apocalypse

• Due to changing to a new kind of database, apostrophes started becoming an issue again. These also have to be fixed on a case-by-case basis where they crop up, and we're still addressing them. So far, we've fixed this issue in news comments, tickets, the gift center, and leaving comments from a user's profile.

User Events

• For a while, user events started showing up backwards from the usual most-recent-first order in your sidebar. This has been fixed.
• One glitch showed some user events under a weird trick-or-treating category. This has been fixed.

URL redirection problem

• A lot of URLs that don't end in ".php" are redirecting to "news.php", for example, "/explore" is redirecting to "/explore/news.php". We are actively debugging this issue.

Thank you so much, again, for your patience and support at this time. We haven't forgotten the "special treat" we promised either; we're just working to get things a little more stable before we roll that out.

If you notice other issues, please feel free to post them in the bug report forums, but you may not get an immediate staff response since we're quite actively debugging things still, and can't check the forums that often in the meantime. I promise we aren't ignoring you, just busy working and we'll look over as soon as we can!

Hello! We're still working hard, and we wanted to thank you all for sticking with us through all of this. We love and appreciate you!

To address a few concerns:

1. I double and triple checked that the likes are still there, including avatar likes and news comments likes. So rest assured that your Likes are safe, and none of that data was lost during the move! There seems to be a problem with code that displays them in various places, so we will look into that.

2. We can confirm that we do plan to reimburse lost GA time, once things are more settled.

Unfortunately, no. If it had an apostrophe it didn't get added to the database.
