Stuff happens, next month sounds good to me. Thanks for the update :)
Not only this but like....it took this thread to get some answers? And once again, those answers only exist here instead of some kind of official news post saying anything to that effect. I understand it's hard, but as previously stated this should have been tested to make sure it was possible before the event started and we should have been updated/informed along the way not have to make a thread asking and get answers here instead of officially :/
I don't really like the negativity this site gets sometimes, and I mean no offence to the staff, but I do wish that an announcement saying they would do this next month was in the news or a site update thread instead of a post in a forum topic that most people won't look at, and a lot of people don't think to look at the admin posts either. There's a lot of users who don't even touch the forums. I know the news page has a link to the admin posts, but maybe more attention should be brought to it so more people know to look there for answers that aren't on the news page itself, or in forum threads that people get mentioned in for with the site update group.
I also suggested a while ago that maybe admin posts should include news comments, because sometimes questions are answered there but not anywhere else, and not everyone looks at news comments, or scrolls through them specifically to find what the staff are saying there.
I'm not big on the negativity either because much of it isn't warranted, but when it is it does need to be taken seriously. I can name half a dozen things I know only because I thought to look at news comments or the forums, and probably endless more that I missed. I will grant that the staff have been much better about this than previously, but still.
Honestly I like the suggestion I saw a bit ago about a little shoutbox-esque thing on the front page for smaller updates that don't warrant their own big news post but so they're still there so people can see them and staff posting there for things like this just so people know.
It didn't take a thread, though ? I updated the news post with when the items come, there will be a news post. I answered people in the comments. I've explained that the coding for Wizard is weird, that there wasn't an easy way to get the items out and still get the tokens (and I've been the one doing all the holiday stuff that's been back to back, so not much of a break). There isn't much I can say that I haven't said already, that the items will come out just not how they were originally intended to. :)
Thanks for the update! Ignore the cynics, the rest of us know how hard you guys work! Programming's a lot harder than people who've never tried it think it ought to be. <3
most people aren't going to re-read a news post they've already seen, though. editing a news post doesn't do much good when it's already more than halfway down the page. i think things like that should be made as a separate news post so users actually get the "new news post" notification and see it when they first open the news page.
People are acting like it was the userbase who had the idea to start off? we didn't, we didn't asked for it in first place, don't make a news about something that can't be done
This is pretty much in the same lines as the Tea House, staff make promises they can't keep and if we get upset with it we are spoiled brats etc
and have it right; most of us aren't going to re-read old news or bother to check, it needs to be a new news post telling us what's going on and it's not our fault the staff made a promise that ended up not getting kept and now we're upset about it.
I completely understand all the holiday stuff is rough, and I get that is having to do all the work without much break, but that's not the issue here. The issue is that we aren't getting informed in a way the vast majority of people will see about something that's not working, which is a constant and recurring issue with the staff in the form of stuff getting put on the forums or in news post comments that most people aren't aware of when it should be its own news post to notify more people.
Also I have tried coding in the past and I do know how difficult it is. I'm not slamming Amber or any other staff for not being able to get it done because it is what it is. But it should have been tested before being promised, and in this case the user base as a whole should have been more notified than the editing of an old news post. We're not mad it's not happening, we're mad it's not happening and unless we bother to check an ancient news post that's been edited or this thread or a few other places in the forums that are not the news where these things should be announced we have no idea what's going on and what's being done to fix it, if anything.
Speaking of important discussions contained in out of the way threads, I'm thinking a new feedback thread containing these other issues would be useful at this point since I think the OP's question has been answered?
