My Rreign is called Drips. I wanted to call him Drops but that was taken.
Going Fishing!!! 🐟
My active pet is named Fraktur because it's a popular script (like a font) in calligraphy that I like the look of. There's also some history behind it. It originated in Germany a long time ago and was a dominant and popular font/typeface for a long while until Nazi Germany decided to stop using it in 1941. Apparently there was conflict over what font things should be printed in, regarding modernization of fonts. My pet Uncial is also named after a calligraphic script.
...
My favorite pet is probably caitastrophe because, well, my name is Caitlin and I am a walking catastrophe, so it's just a fun play on my name. :')
Come join in the fun with this cute giveaway!

i will talk about a fitting pet: holidays! xmas time and new year is some of my favorite and i was looking for a way to put all the items i've collected together, so decided to check on name availability... and wow, noone had created that rw yet!! i love when the dates match too, so i found someone adopting out a dec. 25th pet, and we even waited for luminaire night to make the transfer!! n_n magicical ❤️
Ooh, new giveaway! Congrats to the previous winners :D
One of my favorite of my pets' names is one that doesn't get a lot of attention. Grabbies I fell in love with the Scribble 810, and "Grabbies" was the first word that popped into my head if I were to adopt one. I checked, and voila! Grabbies was born. :)
Ooooh, this is a fun one. I'll go with my pet with the most mystifying name, Foresteyes. This goes back a couple years to my LARP (Live Action Role Play) summer camp, where we played a game titled "A Hollow Egg Hatches Eyes" which was really surreal (and also based vaguely off an anime). One of the major facets of the game was disease, the big one many people had was small pox, but because the forces that had given this tiny definitely-not-in-japan-wink town smallpox had also messed horrifically with the local spirits (as in a bear haunted by a dead dude ate the local boar god) there were a lot of other spirit based diseases running around as well. (CW FOR WEIRD VAGUE BODY HORROR STUFF PAST THIS POINT)
There was blood spirals, where the red spirals would cover more and more of you, and any part it could completely surround would be cut off from the rest of your nervous system and effectively die, and if it managed to circle your neck, then you die.
(theres another i have long since forgotten, it was deffo weird and spirity)
And then there was Foresteyes. My character started game with this disease. You have these eyes appear all over your body, more and more over time (you can't see through them, in reality we drew them on with sharpie so i think that represented eye-shaped marks within the fiction as well). The disease wouldn't do anything to you until you reached a point where no one was paying attention to you or looking in your direction. If you found yourself completely unobserved at any point you'd be pulled into the spirit word and effectively disappear, and how long it takes to come back is determined by how many eyes you have. Each eye added an additional 30 seconds iirc, and if it got up to 15 minutes, you'd disappear for good.
It was a REALLY cool mechanic, and the way they had us advance our diseases was that everyone with a disease was given a bag full of slips of paper with new symptoms on them. Every 15-ish minutes generally you were supposed to draw a new slip, and it could be anything from you start coughing to you grow one eye on each finger to you add more spirals to your left arm to you just straight up die of small pox. There was also a bell that could be rung from the kitchen that normally signaled meal times but that was used in game to make everyone with a disease draw a symptom for each time it rang.
Anyway, that's Foresteyes! The rest of my pets besides Woobie (whos just cute) and Liam Ziraphale (who's an OC) are all The Adventure Zone: Balance references.
Demiboy (He/They) ALWAYS LOOKING FOR: | or similar | any magpie-looking wings | Cool Ears
Happy Luminaire!
Morta (my first pet) is named after the Roman goddess of death, she's one of the Parcae (in Greek mythology the Fates, her equivalent there is Atropos, but that was already taken). I love mythology and I figured, the Fate that decides when the thread of life is cut was a fitting name for a 'battle' pet.
Verdugo is named after my favorite boss to fight in Resident Evil 4. The nightmare endeavor reminds me a lot of them too. I think it was you I was actually talking to about which came first, my name change or my pet's name change to Verdugo and if there was a time when we were both named verdugo xD
My pet [pet not found] was my first ever here on Subeta. I honest to goodness based her name on the Warriors book series character Spottedleaf, who I liked at the time. (For anyone who hasn't read this ongoing series, its basically about cats that live in the forest and they train and fight and stuff)
Looking back now, I don't really like the character I based her on much anymore and I don't know what I would do with SpottedBeak with her current name. I've actually thought about getting rid of her, but she's my first pet and I can't bring myself to do so
(also that game sound hella rad!)
Thanks for another giveaway!!! My main pet is named Volfy! There's a movie about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, called Amadeus. In the movie, his girlfriend, later his wife, would always call him Volfy as a nickname for Wolfgang. I've always thought it was such a cute nickname, and when I adopted my Montre, my first pet, I thought it was perfect! <3
Man this is a great giveaway, thank you for hosting it! I just wish I'd discovered it sooner!
I'd like to talk about the name Kiijan. It's a portmanteau of the nickname of popular Japanese seiyuu (voice actor) Taniyama KIshou (Kiiyan) and the Japanese term "ii jan" which means like, it's cool. I'm not even sure where it came from, the name just popped in my head one day (that's how I create most of my names lol), probably when I heard a certain song where the singer says ii jan a lot. ^^; In the language of his own universe, Kiijan's name means something like "spirit dance"... which he's always felt is a little too poetic for him, but I love it.
Should I be lucky enough to win, I'd like the
One if my favorite pets is Tangles she is ALL about lumi so perfect for this december contest. I had her story and overlay idea all planned out when making her. I only wish I could change her birthday to lumi day. My only mistake :P I love lumi so that's why I made this pet.
My girl Hippokampoi is named after the mythological creature called the hippocampus, because I thought it was pretty fitting for a Hydrus Legeica. I love a lot of the Hydrus pets, but the Legeica was my favourite by far, and I wanted her to have a fitting name :)
Faraday is a kylo ren fanpet, so that's what the "ren" is from. halcyon means golden age, which i thought was appropriate for kylo bc of her idolization of vader & the empire & her constant failed attempts to achieve happiness for herself and she couldnt just be kylo because it was taken lol
Thank you so much!
One of my favorite pets is Charlie Belle. I named her after my grandfather (Charlie - and his last name meant bell ringer or so my family says). I wanted to connect her to both my grandfather and grandmother so I chose the Nostalgic Noktoa because of the patchwork on it because my nana quilted. My grandfather liked and collected clowns (not scary clowns, cute clowns tyvm lol) so I had an overlay created to make her clown like and brigher colors like some of my nana's quilts.
I guess that's more than about her name but she's one of my pets that makes me happiest. ❤
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
My main is named Chocolaterie. Chocolaterie
I've had her since the beginning, but until recently, she was named Elyviia. It was unfortunately a holdover from when I first started, and thought it sounded pretty. But ever since I got my name change to Chocolate (a few years back), I always wanted to have a chocolate themed pet. When Chocolaterie went up for adoption, it was meant to be. Now, she has probably the biggest chocolate collection on the site in her TC, and it's glorious! I even got her a custom overlay, and 100% would consume that chocolatey goodness.
Okay. I know it's "a pet" but I've never gotten to explain them. And I only have 4....
Makena is my first pet, not a whole lot a logic, just a name I like.
For the rest - I like words. I'm a word nerd. And I really like obscure words....
For Chthonic, I decided that I wanted a nightmare pet to balance my angelic pet. Chthonic means "belonging to, or inhabiting the underworld". So, Hades is a chthonic god in Greek myth.
For the next two, I wanted another balanced couple with one being a Jollin, so...
[pet not found] I love the steamwork look and Neelas, so I wanted a word that would match both. "Abature" means "grass and sprigs beaten or trampled down by a stag passing through them" so I thought it was perfect and a bit ironic due to it's nature meaning.
Copse I wanted another name that started with an M for the Jollin to go with Makena. Also, I wanted it to complement the steamwork Neela so I wanted an anti-robot color. I had read a short story shortly before creating the pet that featured a Maelid - which is a word for a mythical apple nymph. Also goes nicely with my mythological Chthonic. c:
So, basically, if I ever find another color pair with appropriate/ironic names, one of them being a Jollin, and hopefully works well with the others, I will get more pets. :D
This has been my talk. Thank you. Recommendations welcome.
My pet Doodle Bug is named after one of my cats who passed away 10 years ago next year. Her name is the first name I ever took from an inactive account and I was surprised it was just free and sitting there at the time since it's a pretty cute name.
If I won I would choose
