YAY! can post freely with no spam fears! thank you!
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
Happy to meet ! Would it be possible for ForumBot to get commands? Like on reddit?
idk like if we wanted to lock our own threads could we summon it to lock it for us?
This could really use an actual in-the-newsfeed announcement or news post at some point. Waiting for more of the updates - as long as they do come as speedily as mentioned here - would be fine.
Good start to updating the rules though, and glad to see this frequent feedback finally start to be addressed.
Edit: - you can already lock your own threads. That update wasn't super publicized and the button isn't crazy obvious but it's there.

Thank you for these changes

Question Everything
I am SO GLAD that this is a thing! Good bot!
Also glad that the rules are finally getting a bit of TLC, starting with the two rules that put people off the most. 🙏
I do agree on one thing: a news post (or an official announcement that gives everyone the news alert bar) would've been a great way of getting an alert out to all users who aren't members of siteupdate. Other than that, this is a great update and I'm glad to hear you have more things in the works! Thank you!
Thank you so so much! If everything goes to plan, this sounds like it'll be an amazing solution to all the confusing necro and forum rules. Great job, staff! <3
Do you know how to get that button to work? I've seen it before but every time I tried to press it, it doesn't actually do anything. So I figured it didn't actually work pfft. Have you used it before?
ohaithur little robot friend, welcome to the community!
thanks for the update!

Never had call to use it that I can remember. It does appear to be broken.
I just tried it and I can use it to lock a topic on a forumgroup I own but that's it. An (admittedly quite old) regular forum topic and a topic on a forum group I don't own both didn't work.
I swear it was announced as being to lock your own posts (and it works as such in forum groups). The subscribe button next to it is also a button and works.
Cool, this is great to hear :)

This is an excellent idea. Will definitely help clean up some of the repeat posts that are no longer being used too.
Terrible Two
Love the ForumBot and new rules ?. Thanks
Hmm, I wonder if it's only meant to function in forum groups that you own then? I guess that kind of makes sense. Thanks for letting me know though, I don't have a forum group so never would have figured that one out!
I can lock them in my forum group that I own, but it doesn't work outside of them.
Thank you for these more user-friendly updates! :) This really is proof that staff are paying attention to user feedback and care about trying to make the site better and fairer for everyone. I think this is a great start and I'll look forward to the continued evolution of the forums!
We haven't posted this as an announcement/news post because this is a trial run of both ForumBot and the rules tweaks. Once ForumBot is operating autonomously and we're certain that the rules tweaks are working well/as intended, then we'll feel more comfortable posting something more official on it. :)
As for locking your own stuff up, that's for private forums only, and that function is still restricted to staff in the regular forums!
