The current "abandon pet" page looks a bit... blah. :c It's dated, the text is all squished into one little area leaving massive white space everywhere. It's not immediately in-your-face obvious which pet you're abandoning (which is kinda an important thing!!). There are no quick links to use to remove attached items and back the profile up so you're forced to navigate back to the pets.php page (which is pretty laggy if you have many pets) and search for the right links to remove any straggler items. Or you have to navigate to your own profile to check that way.
SO. I think it might be time for that page to get a tiny little bit of TLC to be more user-friendly and in line with the rest of the site.
Chunky revamp example!

"Are we going on a field trip? I love field trips!"</p>
<p>Warning! Warning!
You are about to abandon your pet Cayde-6 and send them to the Adopt R Us pound. You may not be able to get your pet back if you do this!
It costs 10,000 sP to abandon a pet and your account must be at least 1 month old!
Abandoning a pet deletes all the items attached to that pet, clears its profile and removes its custom overlay if it has one.
Due to cache, these may still show up for a few minutes on the pet&;s profile after the pet is abandoned.</p>
<p>Please make sure to remove any items you want to keep and make a backup of your pet&;s profile before abandoning your pet! Staff cannot restore any lost items or pet profiles.</p>
<p>Go to pet&;s treasure
Go to pet&;s equipped weapons
Go to pet&;s minion
Go to pet&;s description</p>
<p>Abandoning a pet also removes 10% off of any stat over 2000 (strength, defense, hp, speed, level only). If your pet is a bumbus or a bhakoru, it will turn into a common kumos when pounded. If your pet is colored hydrus, it will lose its special colour.</p>
<p>
(YES) ----- (NO)
[box=#e98282]REMEMBER: creating lots of pets for the sole purpose of spamming the pound with them is against the rules and will result in a warning![/box]
The example is pretty self-explanatory! Abandoning a pet is still pin-protected for those who want to be extra safe, and the (YES) (NO) text examples would be buttons that are set slightly wider apart to prevent misclicks, especially on mobile.
The reminder at the bottom would go very nicely with an updated spam rule that includes this little bit of hidden-yet-important info, justsayin'.
Support.
Also, don't some colors go away? Hydrus maybe? And some others? That information should also be included.

Definitely support placing the reminder about spamming the pound with recently created pets on the abandon pet page.

I knew I forgot something. x) Good catch, thank you for pointing it out! I've edited the example to add a line about bumbii, bhakorus and hydrus pets.
This is a wonderful! Totally support! <3 the added bit about the TC's is great too I sometimes get a pet to see the TC 5/6 and no items. all I can think is -oops, hope someone isn't that mad.

This Suggestion is an excellent idea. Thank you for posting it.
But revamping the abandon page would be great! I think your example is a little more redundant than necessary ("deletes all the items attached", the list of items that will be removed, "remove any items you want to keep", plus links to those things which can be easily accessed anyway by hitting the back button). Maybe just a "Abandoning your pet will remove..." with a list below would help keep the page compact and to-the-point :) edit: Or maybe just a clear link to a rule-type page that explains in more detail what happens when abandoning a pet!
100% support that pound spam warning!!

Right in the feels!
My example is definitely a little more redundant than necessary, but the details of what happens to a pet when you pound it aren't in the FAQ. They're only listed on that page. For example, the stat decrease wasn't even mentioned, and there was an stat decrease in place even before the new 10% one. The bits about the bumbus, bhakoru and hydrus pets are in the FAQ, but they're in their respective categories. I don't know how redundant it would be to have everything listed in a new FAQ category about the pound & pet abandoning, but if it's possible, I'm all for it! In the meantime, I'll see if I can reword things a little.
I figured having direct links to do the things would serve as a handy last-minute reminder to check everything without having to go link-hunting. :'D My brain kind of... did a dumb and forgot it was possible to go back a page, but those 4 links of things that get deleted kind of get a little lost among all the other things in the pet popup menu.
I completely forgot the FAQ even existed LOL but a good, updated article about abandoning/transferring would be great to have.

I did a bit of trimming in the example, but considering the redundancy and the small amount of info, idk if it qualifies for an FAQ category? It's something to consider, at any rate!
I support the overhaul. Maybe also something about how there's no guarantee that they will be able to get the pet back if they surrender it to the pound, where it is available to whoever adopts it first? Just in case someone is being a bit careless or exploring different parts of the site.
Good catch! I've added a line about it in the first post that you may not be able to get the pet back if it's abandoned. Thank you! c: The rest I think is kind of logical? The purpose of the pound is to adopt abandoned pets, and the proposed revamp links to the pound's main page which has more info.
I am no fan of chain-linked dropfed information, but generally the pound mechanic serves the same purpose across all petsites.
Now that I've had a few days to think about 's FAQ idea more, abandoning a pet could do with an FAQ subsection in the Pets category! Ex. "I've created a pet but I've changed my mind and I no longer want it. What can I do?" And then it goes into more detail about pet transferring, pet abandoning and the pound. I wouldn't be keen on trimming down the "abandon pet" page info even with that unless the "abandon pet" page links specifically to that category. Odds are, a user won't check the FAQ first when they want to abandon a pet. But a user may take a peek if it's linked as "Keep in mind: abandoning a pet may change its colour, species and stats - click here to learn more!"
Just moving this to the pet subforum. Heads up.

I absolutely love this outside of the "Are we going on a field trip?!" that just made me terribly sad.
I hope you don't mind, I basically just copied what you wrote in your mock-up because we thought how you put everything is great. We just didn't find a need to tweak much of it. Thank you so much for putting it together for everyone. <3

I don't mind at all, I'm glad my example was useful. :D Thank you for giving the page some TLC!
