I just peaked at the leaks and I'm so frikken disappointed at the pokemon they cut from the dex.
Not to mention
SPOILER (click to toggle)
The only starter they apparently have is the Charmander line.
I'm pretty excited for the new game, but its showing really hard that they're running out of ideas and concept designs.
I'm a fire-type starter, and there are a LOT of pokemon I love. My all-time favorite though since it's come out is Pumpkaboo.
First Gen: Horsea Second Gen: Chikorita/Cyndaquil Third Gen: Shroomish/Spoink Fourth Gen: Mismagius Fifth: Meloetta Sixth: PUMPKABOO [ my younger brother went OUT OF HIS WAY and got me a shiny one too ;o; ] Seventh: Wishiwashi (THIS LITTLE GUY CARRIED ME LOL) / Mimikyu
I've got a lot of faves, too many to sort out on the spot, but I'd say my top three are Espeon, Mightyena, and Nidoking. Chose Squirtle (forever and always) way back at the beginning in Blue Version, but I've somehow been all Fire since, with the exception of Black/White because I can't do pigs. Should've gone with Grass in Sun/Moon though; Incineroar was a horrible shock.
As for Sword&Shield... I'm sad to say it looks like I, and my Pokémon, will be retiring in Alola. It's cool that you guys are all excited and I hate to be a wet blanket, but nothing I've seen is making these at all personally appealing or making up for what's been cut. (And I've seen all the leaks.) The whole radio silence on Pokémon Home doesn't inspire confidence either.
It's a real shame too, since I enjoyed Let's Go Eevee a great deal. (Righted a 20-year-old wrong!) But hey! I'll always have the old games to play, and I've got almost all of them plus enough systems to trade with myself. I should be fine.
If anyone's on the fence: wait a week or two for 'official' reviews to come out so you can make an informed decision. Or, I hear you might be able to rent games from your library, and since the saves will be on your switch, not the cartridge, you wouldn't lose any progress if you do decide to buy.
Growlithe and Arcanine have always been my favorites since Gen 1! I'm a Gen 1 bitch though, if it's not Gen 1 - 3 I don't have much of an affinity for it lmao

I actually love Galar a lot! Scorbunny is my new favorite starter (finally knocking Cyndaquil off the throne... I still love you Cyndaquil!) and it was honestly the most fun I've had playing Pokemon since Unova. SUPER hyped for Armor & Crown - I can't wait to Gigantamax my Scorbunny!!
My all-time favorite Pokemon is Raichu; I refrained from using it on my initial SwSh playthrough do I could try out new Pokemon, but I'm going to use it for a replay I'm planning (along with Galarian Corsola, Frosmoth, Galarian Rapidash, Flapple, and of course Cinderace).
Along with Raichu and Cinderace, I really love Umbreon, Mewtwo, Cubone, Lopunny, Lurantis, Sandshrew/slash, and Cincinno. I guess my faves in each Gen would be Raichu, Umbreon, Breloom, Lopunny, Cinccino, Chespin, Alolan Sandslash, and Cinderace, and my favorite PCs are Kris and Gloria. ^^
(Anyone else still annoyed they replaced Kris with Lyra for HGSS? Lyra's okay I guess, but I really prefer Kris....)
: Absolutely annoyed with the Kris/Lyra switch, and I never played Crystal when it first came out. It's just Kris has a simple athletic look that's on par with the male PCs. And Lyra is... I don't want to say it's a terrible design, because it absolutely isn't. It is, however, a very specific look that's about a million lightyears away from anything I would want to associate myself with. To be fair I think most of the PCs look ridiculous, but I don't think I could ever play as Lyra.
And another Raichu fan! Cool! Do you only like the OG Raichu, or do you like the Alolan one as well? I still love the OG, but I'm a sucker for psychic types and the Alolan Raichu is adorable.
I love both Raichu, but Kantonian has a slight edge for me - I like the long tail and the curls on the ears!
And yeah, there's a tendency toward really bland-looking male protags and overdesigned female ones. (Victor and Rosa are probably the worst offender in each category, IMO.)
I came now to say: My favorite pokemon is Zoroark XD
I also have a pikachu tattoo in my arm XP

Oooh I like so many pokemon it's really hard to choose a favorite. Ninetales was my first favorite when I got into pokemon, though!
I know there's been a lot of controversy around the new games, but I've been enjoying Sword and Shield. I caught an appletun with the ability I wanted in a raid last night that I'm ev training now. I love the super-cute apple pie dragon!
