Just one more note I wanted to add.
Those people most affected by this change, most upset are also the ones least likely to be able to post here and give their perspective.
Please keep them in mind!

Wholeheartedly agree with everyone that there absolutely should've been an announcement about this.
I think the "FP only go out to forum groups with 10 or more members" would be a pretty solid fix.
I quite like the concept of FP, but just not doing away with giving them out in, to me, a major part of the forums.
I'm having trouble imagining that the farming was such a prevalent issue that this had to be done instead of just issuing warnings to the users that were abusing the system. There really aren't that many users active at a time...

Also, reading some of these comments, and the discussion on the forum feedback thread has made me paranoid about a lot of posts/threads I've made and future posts/threads I will want to make...
There was a long paragraph here about my thoughts, but I erased it out of fear that it was too off-topic or that... idk I have posting paranoia now. :( I am even terrified of making this post, but I will anyway.
There needs to be a major Staff & User discussion about the future of the forums (and forum groups) and how to make them active and fun for everyone.

Also copy/pasting what I said in a group forum here:
To add onto what I said, the forum groups are one of the main reasons I am so active on Subeta. Without them I would not be as active at all. I might actually consider quitting?? Or at least going on hiatus...
I really love the minimum member requirement idea. I do wonder why this change was only disclosed via ticket. I was posting in groups for the past couple of months and wondering why I wasn't getting any forum points. Personally, I am another member who is nervous about posting in the main forums.
i've had some time to think about it, and i think that 1) restricting forum points from groups is dumb, and 2) the suggested group minimum is a little silly. if someone has a group to chat with like, their best friend, or closest two friends or whatever, i don't think they should be penalized for wanting to chat on-site instead of through an off-site service like discord. isn't the whole point of forum points getting people to engage with each other on the forums and ultimately, remain active on this site? i would think you should encourage that in whatever form you can get, so long as it isn't spammy "posting for boxes / posting for the blue building requirement." it feels like taking a second look at forum games would be better than removing forum points.
(that said, if you were going to restrict earning forum points from any groups, i think it should be groups with only one member. seems a little silly that during the forum box fiasco i could've made a locked temp group, spammed to harvest points and boxes, and then deleted everything to hide the evidence.)
People would then be forced to join a forum group to get points. Why not keep the game threads and make forum points more frequent?
i was thinking more restricting forum games to their actual forum, but i didn't care to write that out because it means staff would have to police group forums, and 1) idk if that's something they can/want to do and 2) if they say "no groups for spamming for forum posts" but don't actively enforce that as a rule, it's a toothless maneuver and nothing changes
The rules are so stifling for a site with dead forums that it's amazing; I don't even post in the groups I'm in so much but this is ridiculous.
So I'm supposed to wait about 2 years to relist my items in Advertising?
If you're forcing people to post on the public forums to retain the value of a FP, they're going to be worth about 50m unless the forum rules actually change and we don't need a bi-monthly topic about how they're dead.
This seems kinda pushed too far imo. I can understand the whole issue with farming for giftboxes and forum points, but this rule is beyond common sense. In the first place, the farming issue was overlooked until it has brought enough attention from all the spamming. There should have been rules clearly stated and very quickl. That being said, mistakes can happy. I feel like it's just creating more prejudice against users that are socially shy or have simply choosen to frequent forum group threads. Also, not to be an asshole but the forums are dead or about to be. They have slowed down quite a bit since my registration 10 years ago. There could have been better rules (and they have been stated in the board already). Cannot support this change, unfortunately ¯(ツ)/¯.
Of course I can't say for certainty on Subeta but on other sites I have run that had forums everything that was deleted went into the "trash can". Multiple steps had to be taken to permanently delete anything and regular users could not access the trash can to do anything further with it.
I think it is just...great that the forum groups were supposed to replace cults and now forum groups are going to die, too.
The forum pulse is hilarious now. game topic after game topic with the same 2 people listed for the last post on each of them. This is how it will continue to be I suppose.
I don't talk that much on Subeta, and I've only gotten 1 Forum Point EVER. Granted, I wasn't active for several years, but now that I'm active, I never really noticed. I can't remember when or how I got the FP- Bathouse or the Forums.
I'm glad that FPs are getting more discussion, and I hope that staff will join in. Things have changed and been overlooked since FPs were introduced, and I agree it needs an overhaul to keep up with the times. If the forums are no longer the best option to give them out, then we still have plenty of other choices.
There has been some misconceptions about forum points, and I think it has to do views from hindsight.
For example:
Forum points are to encourage posting in Subeta instead of Discord. FPs were already around during 2014 (before Discord's first release in 2015, and Discord didn't take off until later). Keith introduced FPs and explained that they are intended to encourage posting on Subeta. You don't have to agree it's a good idea, but that's what the plan was. AFAIK, I haven't found quotes from staff about Subeta's change in intentions of FPs since then.
Forums and forum groups are going to die because of this change But how did we survive before FPs were introduced? Please view FPs as a separate issue. We still have many users taking their time to post not because they want to farm FPs, but because they want to share their opinions, help others, discuss about things, etc. The forums have chronic issues, and that's one of the major reasons why forums have been stagnant. There's a thread ongoing in the Feedback section url=https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/900411/Lets-Talk-Forums-Again[/url]
3 (Apocryphal). FPs and forum boxes will save the forums No they won't.
To be fair you can (or at least should be able to, fair's fair if it's broken still) edit your forum pulse settings to only see the forums you want to see. I have it so I don't see any user run game forums or custom wearable forums because they where drowning out the other posts- I think a game forum will naturally fill forum pulse quicker than any other thread just by sheer amount of posts, but it's not the only place that gets activity.
Is this because of groups like our frenzy group? If setting up a group like that to get points was something they weren't okay with, why wouldn't they just post an announcement/news post/ forum topic/update when they saw the practice and let us know, "Hey guys, we get the idea you're going for but we didn't intend for posting just for points to be a thing and so from here on out that's also considered spam/not kosher."
I donno, I used to post a lot more, but my anxiety has been awfully severe for the better part of the past couple years and I usually don't post unless pinged and even then... I just don't make words work well in my head and get really self conscious and end up deleting it all.
I'm making myself not erase this in hopes that the perspective helps at all lol Hope it at least makes sense! ^_^
If that's the reason points are no longer awarded for forum group posts it doesn't make much sense. All the game topics exist just so people can earn forum points or get 100 posts for the Blue Building. We're obliged to have topics like this because forum points are so rare. Trying to find other threads to post in is very difficult and, if it's a slow topic, we might have to wait several days for someone to reply before we can post again.
I only post occasionally in a couple of small groups and have never posted just for forum points. I hope this doesn't discourage the smaller groups.
Yeahhh but let's be honest, those aren't so much games as they are spam threads. Maybe not ALL of them but most of them. Post an emoji essentially. Not gonna lie there was one in a group I'm in and it was literally count to 100 for forum points.
If forums points are meant to be rare then it's definitely a no-no to be making spam whatevers to farm them.
People don't have much choice if they want forum points at the moment. There's a limit to how much you can say about Subeta including topics in Suggestions and Feedback. Commerce is only useful for people looking to buy and sell things. Creative Corner isn't for everyone and the Social Scene forum is very limited.
I made two topics in Social Scene.
Post a link to YouTube which never got much response. My guess it's because (1) Nobody knows what counts as PG13 on Subeta. (2) Every title not in English has to be translated into English with Google Translate so as not to break a forum rule. This is fine if a title is in Russian, Chinese or Arabic etc but a pain if it's in one of the many languages which use the same alphabet script as English (3) It's also a pain having to use sCode for links.
I asked if anyone likes The HU. Nobody has replied so if I want to chat to HU fans I have to go to a Facebook group.
Hi, like always, we aren't ignoring this topic - we're making sure that we have a good response to it based on the feedback.
I blocked forum points from forum groups around a year ago, and stand by that decision. What you see is a bunch of user who were using them appropriately (or maybe using them inappropriately and no one saying anything), what I see is accounts being made and then immediately making (or joining) private forum groups and posting thousands of times to get points.
Sometimes these types of "switch flips" (turning off a feature) is to stop the immediate threat and abuse (which it did) and then try to find a way to resolve it going forward so that we can bring it back. In this case, it ended up as a ticket that was never deemed high priority, and floated down the list. What I think is that we need a rethinking of forum points in general, there are now APIs that can determine how "valuable" a post is to a dialog, and I'll look into those which means that forum games, etc, would be out as well.

@ ciannwn I dunno, I started making a response but after looking through the forum shop itself, there's just an overall imbalance in the economy lol. I think the underlying issue though is site activity (or lack thereof)
tickets sell for 1m+ yet the cheapest 1 ticket item sells for 65k? and the 25 ticket items sell for 9-11m, and items inbetween have no rhyme or reason to their values.
I think the answer here is the entire things needs a bit of tweaking or revamp, whether new rules need implementing (and announced in some form) or frequency of tickets needs to be adjusted, especially since we're in summer time and people are less active during this time. I am still fine with not earning points in private forums until a compromise can be made.
edit: oh hello ;D you still in masquerade getup yo
This would be fine if the forums weren't so dead for many reasons mentioned in this topic.
My personal feeling is that forum points aren't a good way of trying to get people active in the forums. Cutting out topics such as What Did You Get From would also penalise people who are anxious about posting in other forum topics for various reasons.
