Nope I totally agree. There is a suggestion to flag staff news post comments as well. It currently is fractured since there are many potential sources for updates. What would be nice if there was a way to be able to edit a post to include the flag because we only have the option at the creation of the post. [Topic=897776]
@ Permanent Yup, useful info is posted everywhere! And I'm not sure if it's even possible to have news post comments listed there. If it is - excellent! But it also brings up the problem of the admin posts page getting even more loaded with stuff. For example, Amber is often chiming in on news posts helping people out with something, or explaining how a feature or event works, or just having a good time joking with people.
I agree that it would be nice to add the flag retroactively because it sucks when you're tired, but you post something important and you missed ticking the little "post as admin" box. :'| It's annoying in forum groups and you often have to double-post for it and I've noticed it occasionally happening to site staff too.
I love the fact that Bug puts so much effort into communicating with people when they're working on bugfixes and the odd little quirks that Subeta has. I love that Amber jokes around with people in news comments. I love that Keith dropped in to bring the real talk. But I also think that the home page needs a facelift really badly (iirc there's a suggestion topic about it & I think the new layout has something in store for it too?), and that Subeta would benefit from having one particular area for important info to be posted and not get slowly pushed off by unrelated staff-to-user interactions.
Speaking of @ bug - nearly missed your ping. :'D Glad to hear things are being considered and I hope something can be worked out that benefits everyone.
Don't worry it's not a data breach. explained it well. Memory leak is a term to describe memory that get allocated, but never get freed when it should. It can be challenging to pinpoint the lines of code that cause it.
From what I heard, the forum waiting period is 24 hours for new users. https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/896306/Ideas-to-Increase-New-User-Retention-
I haven't experienced any slowdown at 3AM today or overnight. That's very promising news after a month, and I appreciate the effort to make that progress happen.
I apologize for my earlier comments. My frustration meant I was reading passive aggression and not wording my own thoughts well. I do greatly appreciate the efforts the staff put into the site, and to communicate with us.
A condensed place or two to see all the updates would be super helpful and I'm glad it's bring looked in to! The lag is also much better.
Now that TravisCI is working, I've pushed out some infrastructure updates that should reduce overall lag ?

I agree with your entire post, well said. Especially this bit. Replying to the thread in general with my post here:
I think the issue is people don't think subeta cares and it becomes a cycle of witholding money. It's hard though because if staff posts any sort of fundraiser-like news post, it could very well be perceived as a) money-grubbing b) the situation is dire and people jump ship in addition to putting pressure to 100% deliver on a product when with fundraisers you can't be certain if not only the monetary goal is met but even with all that money the product will get better / be delivered. I used to be all for a fundraiser and would donate toward it but the more I think about the repercussions of one the more I see why staff might not have done it yet. Not saying those above reasons are the real reasons and not trying to speak on behalf of staff etc but just trying to work through the scenario here.
Also, fwiw, I don't think the lag was bad. I think it lasted for a shorter period of time compared to the past. Remember the long checks of whether you're not a bot to check for DDoS or the site not even loading? Maybe I've gotten used to it but it really didn't seem that bad. :'D
Stopping wearables and events? I'm not sure if this is a legit suggestion but I'm going to have to say hard no on those ideas. CWs are the MAJORITY of the item uploads that also happen to fund the majority of the site. sP wearables pale in comparison release wise. I don't mean to be harsh, but just because you get overwhelmed with the item releases doesn't mean the site needs to tone it down. The 9(?) events/holidays that occur throughout the year are tradition and are welcomed with open arms from the majority of the user base. To tone those down or do away with them would also remove one of the fun and original things of Subeta. While the same cycle occurs just about every event (event starts, massive lag the first couple days, then back on track) I would rather keep to our current setup rather than stop it all completely. Ideally, prevent the massive lag at the start of events but if it were that easy it would be done already.
I appreciate your effort in making suggestions but they are not plausible.
1.I think the thing that needs to be communicated more is that Subeta is not sustainable.
I’m honestly confused what some users are saying.. “We can get so many more members!” -yeah... but that will be within a span of many years(if we even make it that long.) Subeta was never made to withstand so many users since like keith somewhat pointed out its coding is made like a shoebox and string. Now.. you can give it wrapping paper, stickers and postcards ...but in the end its still just a shoebox with string and thats forever. If the new users can handle errors every other month, than they might stay. Honestly though, I’ve never seen another site break this much within my decade being here. I understand the reality, that errors will happen and still pop in time to time. Why you should support subeta:Because if you don’t it won’t exist anymore?
2.We're here to run Subeta for as long as we can, we're really proud of the site and the community. I want Subeta to be around for another ten years.
With how some change isn’t being taken into consideration, It will die a lot faster than that..
