Here are some classic whiskey drinks that everybody should know how to make.
The God Father (less sweet version)
60 ml Blended scotch or bourbon
7.5 ml Amaretto
Fill a mixing glass 2/3 full of ice, add the ingredients, and stir until chilled.
Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. (in some recipes, the alcohols are mixed in equal parts. )
Rusty Nail
60 ml Blended scotch whisky
15 ml Drambuie liqueur
Combine the ingredients in a rocks glass, add 1 large ice cube, and stir.
Garnish with a lemon twist. (in some recipes, the alcohols are mixed in equal parts)
The Old Fashioned
1 Brown sugar cube
.5 tsp White sugar
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 dash orange bitters
.25 oz cold water
2 oz American whiskey
In a rocks glass, muddle both sugars, both bitters and the water. Add the whiskey and a large ice cube. Twist slices of lemon and orange peel over the drink and drop them in.
The Whiskey Sour
This 1850s classic predates many of today’s most beloved cocktails. But they all owe a tip of the cap to the three-ingredient the Whiskey Sour. Here it’s topped off with egg white and Angostura bitters to give it a creamy, earthy texture.
60 ml Bourbon 22 ml Fresh lemon juice 22 ml Simple syrup 1⁄2 Egg white
Add all the ingredients into a shaker and dry-shake (no ice). Add ice and shake again until well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe. Top with 3-5 drops of Angostura bitters.
Rob Roy
45 ml Scotch Whiskey
25 ml Sweet Vermouth
1 dash Angostura bitters
Stir all ingredients over ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, garnish with two maraschino cherries on a skewer or with a lemon twist.
Sazerac
50 ml cognac
10 ml Absinthe
1 sugar cube
two dashes Peychaud’s bitters
Rinse a chilled old-fashioned glass with the absinthe, add crushed ice, and set it aside. Stir the remaining ingredients over ice and set it aside. Discard the ice and any excess absinthe from the prepared glass, and strain the drink into the glass. Add the lemon peel for garnish.

and ooohhh my very favorite drambuie..mmm i like it staight up in a brandy snifter on ice so the RustyNail sounds like MY drink so i will have one of those and in my other hand a newly introduced mojito right ...i will take them with me after a taste of each one first...yummmm i havent even heard of some of the ingredients neede for the FANCY drinks hehhe

Frieda is zonked out, not so much from trying all of Weldon's cocktails, but because she is just tired. Weldon is sloshing around trying desperately to metabolize 13 servings of heavy heavy fuel....
Mojito
40 ml white rum
30 ml fresh lime juice
6 sprigs of mint
2 teaspoons sugar (or 2 ml of sugar syrup)
soda water
Muddle mint leaves with sugar and lime juice. Add a splash of soda water and fill the glass with cracked ice. Pour the rum and top with soda water. Garnish with sprig of mint leaves and lemon slice. Serve with straw. Who shaid dat?

Not a fan of wine Straywillow, most taste like vinegar to me. Champagne and orange juice is fine.

trying to be comfy and using my meds on time. Alarms on cell keeping off so my family knows I am taking all my meds. My family are taking good care of me, even the dogs keep checking on me.

@ Frieda : Weldon made a pitcher of mojitos and a pitcher of Bahama Mamas. I'm awake again, I had a little nap, I'm OK. But no mixed drinks for me, too many sugary drinks or bottom shelf alcohol like Jose Cuervo gives me migraines. BettyBoopopoly? And what was the other one, Vegenolopoly?? Vegotomy??? Vasectomolopoly?? Some of those sound like surgical operations. Maybe I will try the BettyBoopolopy with you Bohicon and Straywillow. That one at least sounds like a war game.

Any dice or word games going on? I don't like war /strategy games. (Risk and such) & after a few sips of anything alcoholic, the little strategy I am capable of flies out of my mind...
Dancing (see below) is fun though! I am still aching from the rl women's party we had Thursday. I was on the "organizing" team, so I helped shop for the food Wednesday, set of the community hall that night (until after 1 a.m.!), arrived early on Thursday to help with the food (many ladies there cutting and salad making, so I dispersed stuff on tables) and DANCED for 3.5 hours. My aching arms & legs! But actually, I collect my strength all year and don't plan on attending any more dances for the next year...
