you know as a kid I was always envious of the kids who got their casts signed. I was so clueless, casts came with a pain problem to require it. back then it, was heavy plaster casts. the ones they have are lightweight. hurting a little bit now, but after cast and therapy my hand will be so much better than it has been for about 2 years.

All this time I have had a heavy, plaster cast and not one drawing on it. Something is truly wrong with me! Not very Judy of me at all! (I even have drawings on the outside of my house) LoL

Ouch! Speedy recovery! We gotta put talisman-y thingies up! (I get my foot checked on Sunday to see if I can get an air-cast. I am sooooo ready!)

okay I found out why they will use a plaster cast:

Plaster casts are most often used when a fracture reduction (re positioning of the bone) is performed. The reason plaster is used after re-positioning the bone is that plaster can be well molded to the patient, and therefore it can support the bone more precisely. When a bone was out of position and is manipulated back into position, plaster may be used to help hold the bone in the proper position.

He told me about 2 weeks in that I could get a light weight plaster, but there was so much running around to get it that it dragged on for 2 weeks, at which point he said wait 2 more weeks and you can get an aircast so I wait. He also said it will hurt to remove it. I didn't get an explanation for that. Oh well. 2 more days and I will know more. I have unanswered questions about this break. For one, where does he see that its healing and will be ready to take weight? It still looks broken to me...

i am surprised, didnt they do anything to stabilize the bone. during my bunion on my foot surgery, they had to straighten the largest metatarsal in the foot area. which meant opening the top of my foot and going to the joint. because the bunion had displaced my metatarsal severely causing pain with every step. they put a titanium nail into both bones connected to the same joint to straighten the metatarsal and let bone grow to support the joint.

the metatarsal in your foot has a piece broke in the center, and no longer is a solid bone. if you havent had something done to support and help that bone to grow back connected. I would see another dr. I have pics I want to show you. I am working on that now.

A Sweet Valenrines Day To All!!!! An update on our ...she had her second surgery yesterday on her kidneys..today they will restart her chemo,,which i know she was scared about being off of! She is super stressed out. Maybe a smiley lil gift would help her about now? . just a hint~,~

I won’t be celebrating Valentine’s Day here or RL! My dog Roxy was put to sleep this morning. She woke me up, she was having medical issues of a very loved old dog. I made the choice to be merciful and put her to sleep. I smelled her fur deeply like I always do, and let her go to heaven with her brother.

RIP Roxy!!!! My furry child my heart! I get new cast tuesday, I decided on red in memory of Roxy, with her reddish/copper/rust looking fur. She always had a red harness and leash. you can see her on my profile under RL pets
