I would urge you to at least get started on the minis this year since it will most likely take you multiple years to slay enough to get the sword. You want the Gelatin Slayer because it is super effective against gellies and you will need it in future years as you level up and take on some of the harder challengers.

The boss is so big that its actually impossible for anyone to beat. It's a big punching bag that you try to do as much damage to as possible then you get prizes based on how much damage you do.

I'm guessing its going to be harder to get a core this time around though. With the changes to pre-select at the same time, 5mil was way too low of a threshold. It was pretty easy to hit that casually with not a huge pet.

what do you think the threshold should be?

I I was T10 or early T11 last time and cranked out the 5million damage in 2-3 hours.

It probably sounds pretty crazy just looking at the number and comparing it to previous high score tables, but someone put up 104million damage the last time around. Any other year 5million would have been enough to get you like a top 10 score probably, but when you announce the number ahead of time, it makes it very easy to pace yourself, and something like 120 went out? Which was close to if not greater than the total number of cores that had gone out any previous year.

ah yup fair enough. is it now on a system where if you crack it you get it? no longer 20 top players?

not for me personally, I've never used it and I have weapons that do everything it does but better. It's a decent enough scroll otherwise. Thought about keeping it for baby pets who can't use the weapons yet but I'm so lazy about battling with them I didn't think it was worth it. Your mileage may vary.

Good to know. I've never been too sure with the scrolls I have. Some of them I haven't used in ages...and they can probably go but I'm not sure. Like...Black Rose Summit...I haven't used it in ages...

same, the ones I got rid of were all ones I've been holding on to forever in case they come in handy someday because I am a game hoarder :P Finally decided someday probably won't happen and extra freezers/etc would be more useful.

I would put as much attack on everything as possible, either all crit strike or EoR. Ditch all healers, he's gonna kill you regardless. If you have any bombs, now is the time to equip those. Don't mod until you take on the hydragellos though.

That definitely has been the optimal strategy in the past, but if they keep doing this announce the damage before hand thing, and give us a way to track our progress, It might not be as imperative to go all out offense. Might be worth trying to save a little on the healing costs.

I wracked up a 5mil healing bill last time. It was definately worthwhile, but if you can save some sp I would go for it. If you find yourself falling behind pace then you can always switch to a more all out strategy.

I would say the best set would be something like this:

(Thats Stacking a TON of light and phys)

You could make an Argument for Ballista too as a replacment for either of those too.

The reason why I say no healers is he has those weapons that will kill you regardless (The one that does 50k+ damage). Depending on what they actually do with this challenger, I'm either doing the quick battle route (die and get right back in it) or the chain freezing route to do as much damage as possible per battle. I would prefer option 2 since healing 11k each time is a pain. I also don't have enough freezers to fill all my AP so my scroll set looks like this:

TA, strong stomp, psycho smasher (x2), cold blast (x2), the void (x2), spacial abyss (x2), and all the rest shriek.
