Outfit Not Found Lab Report Day As the smoke cleared, Doctor Ludwig felt a pair of weights settle upon his person. They made a noise like a soft purr as they nuzzled into his hair and chest, and the brief sense of alarm filling his gaze faded as he analyzed the fluorescent blue beast clinging beneath his chin. Horns and fur. Nothing chitinous, at least. The little monster he was looking over seemed to sense his attention, and it opened eyes as black as midnight, inky and deep.

His heart fluttered in his chest as he stared into the abyss, and two sudden flares of pain burst across his spine. He stumbled off of his alchemist's circle and fell to his knees amidst the melted candles and waxy ectoplasm, finding a third creature at his left knee now. It too looked up at him, as the one upon his chest clung all the tighter, and the one just above his brow made a squeal of protest.

This third summoned beast stretched languidly and then leaped, landing on his shoulder and settling down beside his neck. The pain just beneath his shoulders dulled, and unconsciously he reached up-- only to pause as his glove-clad fingers brushed over feathers, and he came back to his senses.

Could it be possible? Had he at last attained one aspect of the Dark Goddess' divinity for himself? He rushed to his feet, nearly dislodging the unintended creature clinging to his chest, as the one upon his head made a deep-throated grumble. He found the mirror hanging beside his supplies and tore the glasses from his face, and a moment later his joy fell flat. The pink abominations there were nothing like the smoking gray wings she bore. His left fist clenched tight, and he grit his teeth.

But then he let out his fury in a slow hiss and reached up to touch his newly transmuted feathers. A sufficient dye, yes. More Dark Matter. He was one step closer after over a year of failures. Perhaps that meant that these three unintended... pets, these tiny monsters, were then akin to his own familiars?

Tentatively he ran his hand from his left wing up to the blue one. It leaned into his touch eagerly and closed its eyes again, repeating that purr. Yes, he reasoned, this is not a failure.

Ah... Sorry for the lateness! Thought I'd post my entry anyways.
