"Oh, nevermind." Wayland grinned and put his plate aside. Food could wait, the excitement of the day was calling him. Taking off at a slow run, he made his way to the water and dove straight in. It was perfectly cool and felt even better than the sun alone had. Shaking his long hair out of his eyes, water spraying about, he grinned. This was just what he needed.

Pulling a small vial from his pocket he took a sip and shuddered. Tasted awful but if it did as the package described, he would be able to breathe underwater for a while. Diving down he began to swim underneath the surf, listening to the sounds of the water flowing around his ears.

Zoe was totally trying to ignore all the things going on. She was pleased the dog and Jona followed with then he crashed into her and they fully immersed int the water. When she surfaced she laughed. "Ye nut!"

@/Twilight_Wanderer @/Tardis Sauvage would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't admiring the physique of some of the beach-goers. She was surprised to see how many of her male classmates were in optimal shape. She heard one of the other girls refer to a pale boy they called Wayland. She considered walkign over to say hi, but noticed him down a small vial and then jump into the water. "Hm, probably for ze better," she sail aloud to herself.

@/Raven "Why ya always gotta be calling me names, huh?? If I didn't love you so dang much, I'd've been long gone by now. My best friend would probably be Toru and they would treat me as, well, not a nut!" He stood out of the water in a classic superman pose. The tank top he wore sagged with the water's weight and clung to his waist making him seem somewhat frail, like he was being weighed down by the imposing clothes. He continued his monologue: "That's it. From now henceforth your name shall be Lady Whizbee, because frankly that was the most ridiculous thing I could come up with on the spot." He squinted at the sun above them. "It will be a temporary name, until I think of something that better suffices."

Toru felt calm as the waves pushed and pulled water against their skin. Except for the soft waves above they hadn't heard any swimmers paddling about and assumed they were alone. Perhaps it was a good time to release other pent up feelings since no other student should be able to hear them. They took a deep breath inside their little bubble and began singing softly. It was a rare treat for their vocals to get to flex, but Toru was always so careful to not even hum around others. Being the descendant of a siren their voice could hypnotize others and it was a burden they took very seriously. Anyone below the surface would probably hear a lovely voice echoing beneath the waves.

and anyone else underwater

Still swimming, probably out farther than he should be, Wayland loved the freedom of not having to come up for air. It was wonderful, that sound of the surf, melodious even. Stopping and allowing the water to carry him, he listened. It was almost musical. Actually... were those words? He wasn't entirely sure but he thought it might be singing.

He followed the sound, curious and strangely compelled toward it. Stopping in the semi-shallow water closer to the reefs he watched from behind a rock as he spotted the young Hufflepuff from earlier. They seemed to be singing to themselves from inside a bubble of air over their head. As he listened he felt a bit dreamy. He didn't want it to stop.

As the portkey left them on the beach, Flora McGovern spun around with an excited and happy little squeal. “It’s gorgeous! I can’t believe that they allowed everyone to come, no matter our year!”

Drew grinned at his younger cousin, proud of the fact that she had handled portkey travel without a second’s trouble…unlike his first several times with that particular method of magical travel. Then again it was to be expected since his Uncle Michael, Flora’s dad, worked at the Department of Magical Transportation. She had done floo powder, portkeys, and side-along apparition since she was a toddler. Drew was glad that she now had the opportunity to enjoy a special Hogwarts trip after listening to his stories the past few terms. He knew that Flora was still a bit overwhelmed by everything and had been studying so hard that she really hadn’t ventured out of the Slytherin common room other than classes, and thus hadn’t really started making friends. Of course she already knew Magnus and Merlin, but that was because they were Drew’s friends. He was hoping that Flora would make some of her own. “Glad you like it, petal,” he smiled. “And yeah, Hogwarts is pretty good about letting us all enjoy special things.”

He glanced around for anyone that he knew and to see what the other students were doing. Drew wasn’t a big beach person, but he had come along at Flora’s insistence and because it was part and parcel of setting a good example as a prefect.

Flora rolled her eyes slightly at the pet name and poked her cousin. “I said you could use that in private,” she reminded him. “And no teasing or I’ll hex you.”

Drew put up his hands in mock surrender. “Yes ma’am…I’ll remember.”

“Good,” the eleven year old nodded and looked around. “What do we do first?”

Running behind many of the others, as usual, Lena reached for the portkey and closed her eyes. The rush of colors made her dizzy but if she just imagined she was on a ride along with someone on a broom she tended to remain on her feet. Immediately on landing warm sand slipped into her sandals and Lena smiled. It had been so long since she had been to a beach. Looking around Lena wondered who was here and what fun would be had.

Sauvage waved to the newcomers who had just arrived by portkey. She recognized Drew, though it felt like it had been ages since she last saw him. And who were the girls he was with? "'ello, Drew," she said loudly so the sound would carry over. "You and your friends are welcome to lounge wiv me for a beet."

Hearing his name, Drew looked over and smiled at seeing Sauvage. He waved back and then noticed his fellow Slytherin, Lena, nearby. “Hey, Lena,” he said with a smile. “Want to hang with me and Flora? I was about to go speak to a few friends. I could introduce you if you haven’t already met them.” He was aware that Lena was still pretty new to Hogwarts like Flora, though Lena was older of course.

Hearing someone call out Drew's name, Lena looked around and spotted him and Flora. Waving, Lena smiled.

"Hey, Drew. Hey Flora. Glad to see you guys. Yeah, sure. Lead the way."

Lena didn't recognize the girl beckoning them though they seemed to be similar in age.

As Drew arrived near Sauvage, he grinned and asked teasingly, “Have you done something different with your hair? Taking lessons from Fade?” Then he said, “Sauvage, I’d like you to meet two of my Slytherin comrades. This is Lena and my cousin, Flora.”

Flora smiled at the older girl and said, “Hi. I’m Flora McGovern and it’s my first term here. I like your hair. It’s perfect for this trip because it looks like a blend of sea and sand with the colors.”

Outfit Not Found

Callista didn't completely succeed in not cracking up, but she kept the laughter to a ladylike level, with effort.

"No. Scorpius is not her dog." Callista shook her head. "But she does have a dog! Juliana's dog is big and white and mostly wolf. She calls it Pooka. Or sometimes, Pookie."

Callista shrugged. "Scorpius...it's complicated. I don't know him nearly as well as I know her. Officially, they're half-siblings. But I wouldn't assume you can tell the pets from the people by name when it comes to the old families, Blade. Not unless you want to find out how your knee tastes."

She noticed Wayland watching her and smiled at him.

Zoe giggled. “Okay, I’m Lady Whizbee then,” Zoe said. “And ye can be Super Jona.” She splashed him with the water.

Magnus hadn’t seen Drew or Flora arrive, he was distracted taking everything in. ((and I’m not sure if Paddy was swimming with him lol))

[edit] Blade felt the hotness of his blush and hated his body for giving his embarrassment away. "I am unused to any of those names," he simply said. "I suppose I should go put my clarinet away from too much sand." With that he picked his clarinet up and left as quick as possible without looking like he was fleeing. He noticed the new comers to the beach but being a transfer student he had no idea who they were.

"I would be lying eef I said I was not eenspired by Fade's hair," she said in response to Drew comment and laughed. "Eet eez nice to me you, Flora, Lena." She nodded to each of the girls in turn. "And sank you, Flora. I like to play wiv deeferent colors now and zen; good to see zat zis one eez not a disaster."

Jona wiped any and all excitement clear from his face. "Zoe," he said with all seriousness. "You really don't want to start that game." He stared menacingly at her for a moment longer before the facade cracked and he couldn't help but giggle. "EAT THIS!" And he turned his arms into wave whackers, refusing to end his onslaught of salty ocean water. "AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Drew chuckled and nodded. “Fade is pretty amazing,” he said, his eyes glinting with mischief, knowing that Sauvage probably thought the same thing. “So what have you been up to? I haven’t really had time to mingle so far this term. Did you have a good break?”

Flora smiled at Sauvage’s comment. “Oh, it’s far from a disaster. I’m so glad that I can do magic now that I’m at Hogwarts. Mum changes her hair a fair bit, so I know the words to the spells but I couldn’t do them myself until now. I can’t wait to try it out!” Then the younger girl added, “So I’m guessing by your accent that you’re French?”

"Nice to meet you too, Sauvage," Lena smiled testing out the name as she heard Drew pronounce it. "This is so great, being here with everyone. I've met most of my year in Slytherin, but not too many from outside our House. So, this is going to really help us branch out, right, Flora?" Looking back at Sauvage, Lena asked, "Have you been in the water yet?"

Outfit Not Found

"Wait!" Callista called out after Blade.

"I'm sorry," she said as he grabbed his musical instrument. "It's apparently my turn to swallow my lower extremities. I wasn't laughing at you for not knowing the names. I was laughing at the thought of Scorpius being a dog. And especially being Pooka, of all the dogs in the world. I didn't mean to embarrass you so badly, I'm not usually mean, and when I am it usually is on purpose, but today I'm just all off-kilter..."

Zoe laughed and said, "Oh yeah? BRING IT!" She started splashing him like crazy.

Blade set his clarinet down on the grassy patch of ground. Then he looked back at her. She was apologising to him. "Hey, maybe we have a hobby together then... we both like eating our legs and feet... maybe we are cannibals? If so, we can be the other other other white meat. Chicken and tuna being the first two of course... Well, I don't know Scorpius, but the thought of anyone as a pooch could be amusing. As long as it isn't like my Great Aunt's poodle. That thing is just nasty." The corner of his lip curled upwards in a hint of a smile. "Now, your Sabrina was it, now she's a lovely kitten. I have a cat too. His name his Wisp and he's lilac."

Niamh realised that she'd been staring out to sea for longer than she thought. Deciding to pluck up the courage at long last, she took a deep breath and turned to Blade, "want to go for a swim?"

Paddy sighed, "a swim sounds great Magnus, apart from the fact that the water tends to make my fur heavy. Well, that and the fact that I haven't ever tried swimming before!"

Blade took a second to realise that Niamh was talking to him, as if there were loads of people who had named their child Blade and all were coincidentally going to Hogwarts. "Yeah sure. Diving or normal swim? We can cast bubblehead charms to swim underwater..."

Magnus smiled brightly. "Awesome!" When she mentioned her fur, he suddenly had an idea. "Why don't we go into the shop and rent a wet suit. We can bubble 'ead charm you so you won't worry about drowning. Plus I got ya." Then he spotted Flora and Drew as they headed to the shop. "'Ey guys, if you want, come with us. Gonna get Paddy a wet suit and 'it the water."
