I had a weird thing happen earlier.

I received a Treasure Map Piece 9 in a random event while questing. I went to my inventory to read it to my pet, and I couldn't find it. My inventory was sorted by categories, so I toggled that off, and it appeared at the bottom of the page as expected when sorted by timeline. I reactivated categories and it disappeared again. I used the text search function to see if I was just overlooking it and nothing came up.

I said something to a friend and they tested it. With all nine in their inventory, 1-8 showed up in Special, while 9 was at the top of the page in an unnamed category. I bought another 9 from shop search to test this as well, and this one shows up in the same unnamed category.

So to sum up: Treasure Map Piece 9 None > Special

And investigate why it was invisible when received as an RE.
