Toire-no-Hanakosan
Well then I'll see your corpse eating spirit and re-raise with a Japanese ghost who lurks in grade school restroom stalls! Okay is it just me or is this one pretty creepy for ALL the wrong reasons???

I concede! She is one of my favourite video game baddies and featured in some of the best classic Asian horror games I've played, so the title of "Bad Ass Hunting" is yours you have proven yourself worthy as the better of us at finding the best of the best horror myths! Although I still think the Toire-no-Hanakosan has to be in the top 5 of the 'oh so wrong' category 🚫
Ahh, I didn't realize that particular legend had been featured in horror games, to be honest! I'm full of enough terror with just the normal world and every day life that I think the only horror games I've actually played are in the Fatal Frame series. >>; (And that was in part because I think the mechanics of those games are pretty well-done.) Well, and I've played some of Rule of Rose, too (which you may not have heard of, it has some really iffy content and was outright banned in a lot of countries for it), which I didn't expect to be as terrifying as it is. I'd honestly be thoroughly tempted to TRY the Hanako-san one (much like Bloody Mary, which never worked for me as a kid despite my friends' claims, very disappointing), though some of the regional alternative versions of that legend get really weird... Three-headed lizards imitating girls' voices? Hands emerging from bathroom stall doors? Creepy! I have a pretty serious thing for ghost stories and urban legends, though, I'll admit, I can remember entire summers spent with stacks of books on lore and the paranormal.

Kashima Reiko "Come back here and I'll bite ya legs off!" Had to get in a Python line for this one!
Okay we seem to be on a bathroom break at the moment so I found this delightful little girl for you. Quoted from "Get to Know Your Japanese Bathroom Ghosts" https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/japans-bathroom-ghosts
Hanako is not the only young girl said to haunt the bathrooms of Japan. There is another legend of a young girl named Kashima Reiko, said to be the ghost of a girl who died when her legs were severed by a train. Her legless torso now haunts bathroom stalls, asking unlucky visitors, “Where are my legs?” The correct response, “On the Meishin Expressway,” could save your life. Otherwise, it’s said that she might tear a person’s legs off.
Hence the Black Knight reference 😜
PS check out Dreadout and Dreadout: Keepers of the Dark you may like these games
That was actually a really interesting article. >>; I knew about half of the spirits in it, I'm not sure how that should make me feel. Proud? Sad? Both? I'll note those games down and look them up sometime! At worst, I can probably talk my beau into playing them in my stead while I watch him. He's far less of a wuss than I am, haha~

Ichimoku-nyūdō Okay how about a one eyed kappa (flying purple people eater?)
Glad you enjoyed the article and I'd be proud! I think you'll enjoy the games as they are full of different mythological beings (Asian based) and little ol' you armed with just a camera (you're a typical/stereo type school girl for that genre), it's available on Steam that's where I got it. By the way didn't recognise you but will Like as always when I see her :) Ok off to the vets, Ziggy gets his stitches out today.
Uwan This little gem runs around shouting at people to surprise them. I have a cat (Sam) that does that, sneaks up behind you and lets out an almighty meow scares the crap out of me!

Aigamuxa This is from the Khoikhoi an indigenous nomadic populous of southwestern Africa. It is an anthropophagous (cannibalistic) humanoid that has eyes in its instep. Guess it REALLY can see where it's going :D
