No Support. Creating a new Challenger of any difficulty requires the same art and same staff effort, and they deserve to be compensated. If we're scaling things, then Easy should start at 250CSC and the price should go up by 25 CSC per level.
The fun of buying these totally optional CS Challengers is to get another challenger to fight whether you can do it now or not. CWs are the same way: get in on the available batches now Now NOW or forever hold your peace (or hope for Black Friday/CS Pawn Shop openings).
Battling on Subeta is and always has been an expensive little hobby, long before CS Challengers were a twinkle in some Suggesting-user's eye. If it's not fun for you, buy/trade the drops from someone. The BAs with this re-set have decided once again to (ptui) "preserve value" and not do another re-set of the Challengers. So battling past Secret and Event challengers now is made into a pay-as-you-go thingy for Subeta
I do agree that they should say approximately what difficulty it is beforehand, Battle Quests do this and allow you to Skip.
Yeah I am totally fine with it going forward. If it was like retroactive then I would have a problem.
I'm buying them anyway. This year I dropped purchase of a 2nd Collection Book because of these permanent 250 CSC, but I'm always in for paying less!
In my opinion, they may make more money by lowering the price of the easy challengers - because I flat out won't buy those easy challengers for the current price, and I doubt I'm the only one. If they were cheaper then more people would be persuaded to buy them. More people can beat the easier challengers as well, so the volume of sales * the lowered price could theoretically make more money for Subeta, rather than keeping to a static 250 csc price for all of the challengers.
That being said, we don't have any data about how many of each challenger is actually bought from the CS, so maybe I'm wrong and you're right, but this suggestion isnt meant to just be like "hey subeta give me cheap things"
I know you strong battlers are rich but I always thought the price was (and is) insane for CS challengers.
This is a very smart and reasonable solution, full support and hope to see this implemented.
I'm the type of person who doesn't buy any CS challenger under VH, but I'd probably change that if easier challengers cost less. Not to say that the current price is "too much," just that it isn't worth it to me, I can't justify paying 250 CSC for something that all my battlers are going to oneshot.
Cheaper prices get me more into the mindset of "eh, why not" as opposed to "you're never going to actually fight this, just skip it and wait for something harder to release." The same way video game sales work, basically.
Maybe the item type can correspond to the level of difficulty/price point as well - thinking similar to the theme type items? Stickers/food/minion seem to be about 100, plushie/beanbag 125, complicated wearable/book 150. Not saying the prices have to match, but things could be aligned so that even the impossible-level challengers would still have value/interest to non-battlers.
At the same time, I kind of agree that each challenger takes the same amount of work on the back-end (art, design, etc.) so I wouldn't want a system that puts Subeta at a disadvantage or discourage lower-tier challengers from being released. If decreasing the price but increasing the volume of sales works, I think it's a win-win though.
For me, none of it makes a difference because I'll buy all of the challengers and then have exp-earning opportunities for the army at all levels.

only a small percentage of users here battle at all and Subeta is already kind of a boutique site with much less users than say Gaia or Neopets. The economy of scale you are talking about requires there to BE a scale.
I was at the meetup in Disneyland in 2010 and I was the only battler there among the thirty-or-so people to whom could show up to do some RL facetime. The demographics there pretty well matched what users here do already say they are in terms of gender/age/whether or not they buy other user's art etc. Subeta used to invest much less time and money in battling and IMO they can only do as much as they do now because battlers are willing to pay the prices that they do. CWs are the tail that wags Subeta's dog and they only have one staff member. For battlers who have one and a half to demand more seems to me to be pretty wrong.
The challengers that we do get by CSC are already scaled towards the more difficult/impossibles, so your opinion on whether or not Easy Challengers are worth buying is probably already known and accounted for. The site already had tons of Easy/Medium challengers to start with and pets quickly progress past those levels anyways.
ahhh full support!! i really like the idea of starting the easy ones at 125 csc and increasing it from there c:
It took me a while to decide CS challengers were something I wanted to collect (kinda like some people collect plushies and such), so I ended up buying five or six of them from user shops. Since then, I've tried to grab them while they were in the CS (missed a couple because I have a hard time keeping track with their current release schedule... I miss the 1st of the month thing)... So, yeah, I'll probably keep buying them either way, as long as I can figure out how to afford it. (I don't think I'd be able to manage it now without the Bathhouse.) That said, I do like this scaling cost idea and would like to see it implemented. [sub]I am gonna jump on the they-should-start-at-125-CSC train.[/sub]
With you a 100% on this as well.
THANK YOU! NHS... Think pink this October..
Yes please! As someone who skips the (admittedly few) easy challengers and doesn't buy doubles for my wardrobe, I have to admit a lower price would be pretty big incentive.
If we change the prices, it likely wouldn't be until the next round of challengers (aka 2019). It wouldn't be fair to go back and change challengers we've done this year already or start with different pricing this year for the same set. When we made changes to how the monthly collection worked, we waited until January so the set of 12 would match up.
Yes to both things, scaling prices and stats previews.

I would probably keep getting the challengers either way, but I wouldn't be against a price change for some of the easier opponents (starting with the next set like mentioned, of course).
^___^ I'm cool with waiting til 2019! Hopefully you guys do change the prices.
I think the better solution would be to just not make any CS challengers less than Tier 8 or so, and then make T1-8 challengers free to unlock or MC unlockables.
Or another alternative would be to make all CS challengers have higher EXP (30-50K) even if they are easy opponents, giving them better value, especially to people with multiple pets.
