Lately, regardless whether I buy from a user shop or a holiday shop, whenever I click on an item ONCE, it buys it twice, spending twice as much currency. This also happens when I buy items in separate tabs. Help?

Some have posted this issue here and even though I have suffered this glitch myself, I must inform you that this thread is completely unrelated to that glitch. Below are the details as to what I'm actually suffering from:
We are not sure why this happens sometimes, but we do have some ideas for solving it (unfortunately will take a little time to implement as it's not a simple solution)
In the meantime: Are you able to try in a different browser and see if you still have the same issue?
Finally, you may file a ticket and explain that the double purchases were accidental, and a UA will refund the double items.

yep this happens to me quite often, and Ive gone so far as having a new laptop that it has happened on, have done all the disabling adblock, etc, turning/removing my customcss, new mouse, all that jazz, now I will say it doesn't happen with every purchase though(has only happened with the specialty shops that Ive noticed) like say I buy from Esthers, and buy like 5 diff plushies, it could happen on all but 1 for example.

This happened to me a few years ago and it totally put me off getting involved or buying anything for almost a year! It was especially bad during events like masq and pandemic because I couldn't buy anything!
If I ever wanted anything I needed to file a ticket every time it happened to be refunded and have the dupe deleted.
It's sad to see this is still happening to some users :( Even using different computers or devices didn't change anything, it would still double buy. Eventually it just stopped and I gained confidence in buying items again.
In the mean time I can try and help and offer to buy anything you need and send the items over via trade? I believe trading was the only way I could get the items I wanted :(

[/center]Your frustration is very valid here; I'd be frustrated too in your shoes. I have personally prioritized my attention on this issue when it was brought up - precisely because it's such a game-breaking issue - and I wanted to fix it for you guys asap. However, I was not able to determine the cause. I have not been able to trigger this glitch myself, and you and seem to be the only users it happens to consistently. (Because of that, the information you provide is basically all we have to go on.) In other words, the issue's gone unfixed not because of lack of attention, but because it genuinely perplexes me.
I did have an idea for a change to the shops code that is likely to resolve the issue, based on a theory I had about it. Unfortunately, it requires a major effort and a lot of code rewriting, so we are taking our time to make sure this is done smoothly before we roll it out. Accomplishing this code revision has been an ongoing project.
Again, I completely understand the frustration, so please feel free to let me know if you have other questions or concerns, and I'll do my best to address them.
[edit] Ahh you used to have this issue, but then it randomly stopped? That could be a clue, because if it stopped for you, maybe we could try to figure out what changed that made it stop? I know it's probably a lot to ask you to remember, and it's okay if you don't, but do you remember around what year(s) exactly you had this issue, and when you noticed it stopped? And if you remember any changes around that time - like any changes Subeta made to the website or shops, if you got a new computer, or made any changes to your Subeta account (or anything like that)

I have never experienced this in user shops but from late 2012 (according to my first ticket about it) to early-to-mid *2016 I had problems I had duplicates and triplicates from event shops and the Cash Shop if I wasn't extremely careful. (*I always want to say 2017 because it took me over a year to believe it had stopped. 2017 is when I started getting braver about buying items.)
While it was still a problem, I figured out that if I didn't refresh anything in any tab I had opened, carefully bought items one-by-one from the event shops using left-click on the links/buttons on the pages that came up then closed my browser completely after my purchases (just flat-out closed... no refreshing, no viewing my inventory), I was able to avoid duplication/triplication 95% of the time. (Opening a new tab with right click or CTRL+left click for each purchase did not help... In fact, they duplicated more often that way in my experience.) I'd also buy in small batches of 5 to 6 items so if it did duplicate, it would be easier to see when and what so I could file a ticket if I felt it was necessary. It was extremely frustrating. I had to really want the items to even bother.
The Cash Shop was another matter. As long as I was able to use the cart I was fine as long as I paid close attention to the totals (it would still duplicate but in the quantity not actual purchases), but you can't do that with CWs! (Or at least, you couldn't at the time. I haven't had the CSCs or the nerve to try to buy any since December 2015.)
It did not matter how I purchased the items, what browser I was using, my add-ons (I've never had any in Chrome) or what device I was using... I even tried turning off my Norton anti-virus for a little while to see if that was the problem because as far I could tell, it was the only thing that was "constant" throughout the ordeal.
It was not a matter of accidentally double-clicking or refreshing the purchase page. The time delay didn't work either. (Well, it seemed to help when they set it to over a minute but I knew I couldn't reasonably expect the staff to inconvenience the majority of the users for me. And boy, did other users think it was an inconvenience! I was over here like "Yay! Just 30 minutes or so to get everything instead of days!") I would even have items duplicate or triplicate HOURS later when I viewed the shop again.
I made tickets and I posted in the forums about it. I'm pretty sure at one point I talked to Keith about it but it was in the forums and I don't think I have the skill/patience to track it down with "Recent Posts" so convoluted now. (It may have even gotten lost in the forum move.)
As frustrating as it was I know they looked into it and tried to figure out what was wrong. I don't think they ever could figure out what was at fault.
I am still cautious about purchases and I keep half-expecting it to come back, because I don't think anyone "resolved" it per say, not even me. I am still using the same computer I got in mid-2015, at least 6 months before my last duplication and I know I didn't change any thing about it at the time. (That's why it took me so long to believe it had resolved.)

Heh I've had a root around in my old tickets to try and pin point down dates..
So I filled my first ticket on 2014-02-24, and then another on 2014-07-23, I know it didn't end then but had given up trying to get it sorted and went on a sort of mini hiatus because of this issue ^^' I'm hunting through items in the zombie den and steamworks menagerie to try and figure out if I remember buying them or not. I found an old post I made on a forum on 03/28/15, still basically having a whine about the issue haha. So I think between the start of April 2015 and the end of that year, it somehow fixed itself ??
I didn't get any new computers or devices during that time, but two years before I did move to university, got new laptop, new ipad, and logged into subeta on various computers. I dunno if that helps in anyway?
I can't remember is anything different changed on subeta during that time?
This issue spanned over a year so it was quite annoying during the time haha

[/center]Thank you for being so understanding and I'm sorry for allowing my frustration to get the better of me. I was under the impression this was low priority due to misreading the ticket I filed back in June. As for me being [relatively] alone: I do remember other people talking about it but it was like in news comments or another topic within the bugs forum back in April.
I do have some details I can share with you though.
This glitch only happens in two places: certain special shops and user shops. When I buy from within the usershops themselves (and only if the user has more than one of the item in their shop,) I get charged twice and get two items. If I buy from the shop search page, nothing unusual happens. It's never more than two items and two charges to my sP, regardless how many items are in a stack of items in the store.
The glitch also happens in these specialty shops: The Zombie Den, Steamworks Menagerie/Libertine Lounge, New Years and Esther's. (Just checked and it happens with the L'Amour Parlour as well.)
This doesn't happen for the main/restocking shops, Subeautique, Token Shop, Millionaire Center or the Antique Shop. (I'm sure it doesn't happen with the MC because I bought a Magical Keepsake Box from there recently and didn't get two despite having millions on me at the time.)
This has been happening to me for a little over a year. It only happens when I'm using Chrome. Everything is normal on Firefox.
The pattern is essentially the same as Jasper; double purchases in some shops but not others, and in user shops but only when buying directly from their shop, not the search. In addition to their list of affected shops, I also get it in the Quest Shop, the Cash Shop, and the Subeautique makeup shop. There might well be others. Buying timers on event shops have no effect.
I'm also sure a similar thing affects some of the games. I can't play slots, because I'm always greeted with a warning not to refresh the page, probably because there are two clicks going through (no matter how careful I am). I think it also affects fishing, rock paper scissors, and bluff; games that require a page refresh each turn.
I also have an issue with the mystery box which is likely related. When I go to buy an item, the following page tells me I paid a different price from the one I was expecting. I do only get one item, though.
I used to have this problem sometimes, but it was so incredibly infrequent it's probably more of a hiccup than anything, but I thought I'd post my few experiences in case it helped with any leads at all.
I've made 3 tickets about refunding from accidental double purchases, one in 2013, one in 2014, and one in 2015. It doesn't appear that I've experienced this since then, though. I don't think I've made any changes to my computer or account since April 29th 2015 (the last time it happened). During these glitches and since then I've used firefox on windows 7.
In these situations the extra purchases happened in the Libertine Lounge, the Quest Shop, and Esther's.

i had this happen today. It said Error in red and that I was unable to make a purchase. (My inventory was not full) Just realised when using quick stock I bought 5 of the same item unintentionally. The item was Orange Bright Leaf Shoes and it was the top 2 cheapest shops I clicked on where this happened.
I also had the same problem a couple of times today while questing. I got the following message-
Your most recent purchase failed. An unknown error occurred.
So then I clicked to buy it again and got the same message... and again, same thing. Finally tried a different shop and got the same message. So I did an account search to see if maybe I had the item somewhere tucked away in my vault or whatever and found that I had 4 sitting in my inventory. >.< The next time I got that message, I just pressed to complete the quest figuring hopefully it was in my inventory and would work and it did. Not sure if this is related to the above issues or something else entirely.

Yes I had it happen again once today. I had not had it happen for a few days. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I find it happens with shops that have multiples of the item.
Sorry to have to say this but I feel your issues are a completely separate thing. I know this because I too had run into this new error where it says I can't buy an item from the shop search but I had; however this wasn't a problem until a handful of days ago where my initial problem in the first post has been affecting my account since April of this year and only happens with NPC shops or if I'm actually in the user shop itself and they have more than one copy stocked.
This has started happening to me too. It happens in any "special" shop (Quest Shops, Shengui Guo vegetable shop, Steamworks Menagerie, Go Outside, etc).
I'm on Mac OS, on Safari. It doesn't seem to happen in Chrome.
At first I thought it was related to the programs I use to turn a three-finger touchpad tap into a middle click/open in new tab. But then I found that it happens even with those disabled, and even if I just click on the item once without opening it in a new tab.
I guess for now I'll go buy things in Chrome. I'll let you know if it starts happening there too.
Do you think adding a small wait period (even just one second) between item purchases would help, or is it a deeper issue than that?
