53~55 pets at Adoption Center?? Everytime that I looked was like 18, max 20. Is there something different today that I don't know? I feel like a noob asking this. (Maybe cuz I am)
Someone could have been mass creating pets and dropping them off, but it's also likely someone adopted a bunch of pet and waited to return them to the pound for whatever reason. Sometimes it's as simple as a user just quitting or starting fresh with their pets and pounding a ton of them. Either way it's kind of interesting to see.... (course I might just be way off on this either way lol.)
A bunch of blobs were made (all had 5mil ids) yesterday and dropped off. I'm sure that didn't help. A lot of the pets have really similar ids too. So yeah, could be what virus said about someone changing their mind. (Otherwise that's a lot of pets to use up names on.) But some have okay names at least, not horrible?
It's a drop in the bucket compared to when 3,000 pets were the norm. Honestly I miss the larger adoption center; it was fun to shift through it and find something cool.
Every time I visit the Adoption Center I am amazed and a little disappointed, how small the amount of pets in there is. 50 isn't much at all. Yet, I never see any special colours or pets in there, like it was announced, when they cleared the center.
Also, weirdly, people seemed to create Blobs and pound them again almost the same instance.
Because I could. I had like 80 names I found on long dead accounts so I made them. First round was a couple weeks ago with 30 and they all got adopted.
Seems nobody is happy with a nearly empty pound or one filled with names. I did this because I found names in there myself that I never would've dreamed of being open or thought of on my own. So I hope some of these names will inspire other people like my pets have for me.
48 pets is not much. There were times when we had thousands of pets in the AC. ALso somtimes people create pets with nice names and color them for people to adopt simply as a nice gesture.

I like seeing a mass amount of pets. Sometimes you can pick up great names, but other times, the names are just horrible Ex: Bob2245_Bob
It sure makes it easier to find zappers! :) (whom i am guilty of keeping too many of haha)
While I agree that this time many of the names were quite nice, mass dumping is actually against the rules ^_^
And just where exactly is that an official rule?
I just looked them over and there's nothing about how many pets a person can make and leave in a day, week, month, or year.
There's rules about naming them nicely (nothing explicitly vulgar or degrading is allowed. Considering we have names like masturbation and a good selection with sexual in their name I think one would have to really be looking to insult or piss people off with a pet name ).
We can't trade or sell the pets or names we have or know of as open for use. Or anything resembling a sale or trade of pets period.
And to not claim someone's pet belongs to us when it never did.
To not ask to nominate a pet for spotlight.
So maybe at worst it's frowned upon by other users, but not an official rule.
From this thread which was made last year when a similar mass dumping took place: CLICK
Someone filed a ticket to query if it is against the rules and got this response: Quote: Rasputina on 10/18 @ 7:47 Thank you for the heads up! Yes, even if the names are not breaking the rules, spamming the adoption center with pets is not allowed.
I just read that whole thread (which got necro'd) and I saw lots of people agreeing a limit to abandon is a good idea. But still yet all these months later nothing placed in the official rules or adjustments to the pound. That could be what they are working on now, however with the face lift its been given, so we'll see what the end result is.
-you could always make a thread in the Suggestions Forum, asking for the rule on spamming the pound to be added to the official rules list to make it clearer for everyone :)
Staff should not have "invisible" rules beyond stuff that's common sense like doxxing. If it's "official" anyone should be able to find it.
- just a heads up, the necro rule in the Suggestions forum is 15 months :)
- I agree it should be clearly added to the official rules!
Honestly, the fact that it isn't is a bit alarming. I can understand if someone is mass creating pets and pounding them in an attempt to harm the website (I think this is what happened with the # chans when they were attacking the site years ago), but creating decent pets, making them special in some way, and pounding them is hardly the same.
Either staff should officially make it a visible rule, put a pounding limit in place per day, or up the price of pounding a pet. To make it an "official" rule that no one can find on the site rules is not only extremely poor communication that can result is someone getting banned or getting a warning without even knowing, but it opens a can of worms for what "other" rules are in the same boat (if any) and why someone cannot make simple, public note about it. I vaguely recall that someone mentioned the "rules being rewritten" and, if I am correct, does that take over a year to do? And why delay when you can add a simple line for the meantime?
Rules are suppose to protect the site and its userbase and if you're not being upfront about the rules, it's not doing either of those things.
- yup as I said before, it's definitely something to raise in the Suggestions Forum, the rule should be added to make it clear for everyone, or whatever changes staff feel are needed regarding the pound and mass dumping etc ^_^
I agree with you. As it sits it sounds like an answer in a ticket when a situation happened, that yet another user vaguely, but couldn't completely remember being a rule or frowned on so they asked and posted the answer they got...
If changes need made awesome, but they should become implemented If they are needed.
