The story behind this involves two very different people, connected by the one thing that speaks to them the most: the moon. The first girl is a young princess from a village in the Sand River, an area blessed by the Great Silver Moon herself. Her village is nomadic and spends their time traveling across the desert, praying to the moon and providing aid to passing travelers. She, however, can never fulfill her dreams because of her people's customs. Her village is very traditional in the roles of women, and she is forbidden to become a great warrior leader like her father. She is forced into the "common roles" of women in this era, and she has no choice but to follow her father's orders, or she will be banished and left for dead. She spends her nights under the moon, practicing in secret her skills with a weapon, and one day hoping she has the strength to stand for what she believes in.
The boy on the right follows a different path than the girl. His father is an evil sorcerer who preys upon the energy of the moon to create harm to people of his land. The people live in constant fear and suffer to the greatest extent; constantly tortured and oppressed under his rule. The son has been nearly corrupt by his father. He has pushed his son into dangerous struggles and abused him his entire life, causing the boy to have a tremendous toxic relationship with himself, and the people around him. Now, I say "nearly" corrupt, as the boy sneaks off into the night so that he can escape to a secret region of the lake. In this area, he plans an attack against his father. From the abuse he himself has witnessed to the people and experienced himself, he knows deep down that there is something wrong with what his father is demanding, and no longer wishes to please him.
These two are tied together by the moon. And the moon will bring them together so that they can stop the dangerous Sorcerer, and bring peace to the land and themselves.

I quite liked the rivals/opponents idea, so I went with that!

they/them/theirs, please.
Thank you! I love yours as well. I am really digging the pastel theme in them both; very whimsical and dreamy in my mind.

I present to you: twins! Both HAs share the same base, the same border and sparkles, wigs of the same color and a similar style, and makeup minus the eyes. While Phase 1 is adventuring through space wasteland nights, her Phase 2 counterpart is more nature-y, enjoying wind and moonset at dawn:

I hope these are related enough:

Phase One: Moon Goddess of the Night - she only comes out in the heart of the night and watches over all those who wander under her moon light. She is embodied by the colors of the cool dark color of the night like blue, silver and black. Phase Two: Moon Goddess of the Dawn - The Moon Goddess of the Dawn comes to help her sister the Moon Goddess of the Night set and stays to greet the sun and make sure that the she rises well. The Moon Goddess of the Dawn is embodied by the warm golden colors of the dawn.
