Is there a bunch of story missing? Because it jumped from Carrie being poisoned to someone trying to suffocate her.

Yup, I wasn't drinking either and i'm like...huh? I read back over everything and that's the first we've heard of torpedo. And a bunch of other stuff in that last one were like...woah, uh, huh? I obviously missed something so more reading needed! Sneaky, sneaky! :P

But gah, I"m so lost and I don't know if I can give my team enough coffee to sober them up quickly enough to help me out here. ! HELP! We might go down with the ship here!

You all are missing nothing.

1. The fire on the ship was done to weaken the hull at a particular spot. This was planned in advance before the Gigantic sailed.
2. Since the Gigantic was doing a tribute party to the Titanic, it was supposed to meet an iceberg, but that couldn't happen due to the fact that the waters on Eros are too warm. However, Aprhos, the rival company to Boreal, created a fake iceberg covering a sub and sent a torpedo into the hull hoping to bankrupt its rival and their insurer, Blumsen.
3. Thankfully, Ermentine had repaired the damage, and the torpedo inflicted minor damage instead of the hoped for sinking.
4. Carrie was poisoned which rendered her unconscious and now semi-conscious. She could not leave her bed, nor give a clear account of the poisoning. Francine, despite the fact she doesn't care much for Carrie, got a feeling that she should go and check on her. This visit was not expected, and so there was a murder attempt in progress, which Francine interrupted, thus saving Carrie's life.

Yes, this all happened in one night, which is why Jels turned the ship around and is headed back to port.

So how do we spend clues? I know I"ve done this a few times but I'm blanking on if they count for "extra questions" or if we can inspect other things or what to do with them. Kinda down most of the team so scrambling here but we'll get something in!

Hmmm.... this is all quite fascinating food for thought. How on earth can something from a cervid family fit through a port window? They are small enough that only otters, ferrets, and the like can actually fit through them - nothing which could really take down a cervid. Could it be a magical experience/creature? For example a shadow creature being utilized by someone wielding magic or is this outside the realm of the story?

Was Francine able to detect if the assassin was male or female or what species it was or approximate size -- anything useful?

edit: Also if these questions are not free - as in we have to come up with them as a team/spend clue question points/ then ignore me because my team and I have not yet discussed these. I was under the impression we could ask as many as we wanted o this thread.

Magic that is like sorcery only appears in WS, not in Nutsy, but there are other forms of things that could appear magical to an audience. In addition, the Subeta version of a porthold is a bit bigger, fitting a good third of an avatar. I do agree that an ordinary cervid could not have escaped that way, so I suggest you put your very capable thinking cap on. wink

You're getting a bit far afield with the interbreeding, etc. The answer is somewhat right in front of you, provided your team asks one or two helpful questions. More than that I won't say to be fair to others.

All right, I can only come to the conclusion that most of you are lost. It's all right if you want to remain that way and not solve the final mystery, but I would think most of you would like a stab at it. Right now, I have questions from only three teams, and some of them are a bit shaky. I don't mind extending he final deadline for the ending RP, as we're all busy dancing, but I'd like to help you get on track, so....

Here are a few hints:

1. The fire was supposed to sabotage the ship, and was "commissioned" by the very shady business rival, Aphros. They are not nice guys, so they applied pressure in the worst possible ways. However, the whole business is NOT related to the murder and attempted murder.
2. When trying to get to the solution, ask yourself "who benefits?" This might be a cliche but it always works.
3. Most of you searched the right room(s) and found something vital, but I got no questions related to that. Still, it's a key.
4. Ermentine is a fun character, but she is not having an affair with anyone young enough to be her grandson. Intriguing, but no, In fact, she's not guilty of anything, honestly. Still, someone else does have a lover and it would help all of you to know that.

If you still want to play, send in your questions. Speculate all you want, but don't spend time debating the porthole. Spend the time on figuring out who could pull off that trick. Take an evening to relax if necessary. Have a good dinner, some of your favorite beverage, and use these complimentary tickets to the Cirque de Lune. It's exciting!
