While I've still never won, I've found I get better results by basically dividing the board into quadrants, using a square near the center as my starting point (it's one with a bunch of fish shadows in it so it's easier for me to remember) and following the same pattern every time based on what he tells me after each pick (my second pick is always a square that's on a straight line with the first toward the left edge of the board). I'm a person that likes to break things down into patterns and processes. >>; I'd like to think using the same pattern all the time would help me win, but, well, I've already admitted to never having done that. ^^; Still pretty convinced this guy is a jerk who just hoards all the good stuff for himself.

That's exactly how I do it too! And I also have never won lol. I'm starting to suspect this is really just another random luck-based game that has no rhyme or reason or pattern to follow. Otherwise, how can I be consistently getting "very close" on every turn and then suddenly be "nowhere near it" one space over?

At least I'm not only one he's done it to, it's so infuriating. "YOU SAID I WAS CLOSE, YOU JERK, YOU LIED TO ME." Plus the randomness of the reward, it seems I'm never getting something that isn't a repeat... (Often a repeat several times over, like this darn worm, even if he is kinda cute and his description amuses me.)
