I was under the impression that she was still people, but maybe she's NOT people? What does that make her then? Some sort of deity? She has those little feathery wings. Is she the illegitimate offspring of the Oracle and the Wizard? They're pretty chummy. I wonder what her council would think of her going native like that. ha!

I don't think I ever considered that Darkheart was anything more than a trickster character, I certainly never considered what his backstory would be and I did not expect it to come out through a conversation. I think that was a nice touch.

Dang I loved the unexpected little bit of story, aha. Also Melody hinting she is much older than I imagined from her article is really strange.

A Luminaire/winter plot would be cool! It does seem like there is more to explore here, and it is kind of strange how old Melody seems to be. Although it could just be that she's been doing this for so long, and the Snow Fairies took a liking to her, maybe she's just been affected so strongly by all the magic she doesn't age anymore or something.

I think it's supposed to be that Melody isn't actually kidnapped, but she willingly visits the Fryst clans to give them gifts. I think the kidnapping thing was a ruse so that people wouldn't wonder where she was if she was just suddenly gone for a day, go looking for her, and discover the Fryst people. But now that we have the challenger, it seems like they're okay with being known, and not worried that we'll try to hurt them or anything.

"Knowing Melody was in danger because of me?"

I think this part should maybe have been changed to "thinking" she was in danger, because from the rest of the text it doesn't seem like they ever had any intention to harm her.

- Oh, I can kind of see that now. I thought Melody was implying that Darkheart actually tried to kidnap her, and she just kind of played along and let him think he was in control because she understood that his intentions were actually good or something. I was imagining Darkheart trying to tier her up and she's just like "oh, I don't mean to interrupt, but shouldn't you tie my feet too so I don't run away? You're doing such a good job though, and you've improved since last year. I'm so proud of you."

I'm still kind of hung up on the part about people coming to look for her though. If you don't want to raise suspicions, a staged kidnapping is a terrible way to do it. If it was coordinated from the start, it seems easier to come up with a story about needing to rest for a day to replenish her magic or something. Otherwise it's just like:
